Just seen a video of a trans woman minding her business in a train station getting horribly bullied by some Tommy Robinson wanna-be and couldn't help but think back to all the aggressive threads I've seen on Mumsnet.

Pages and pages of vilifying innocent trans people, calling them perverts and all sorts with zero evidence of anything of the sort of course would lead to people like this harassing and attacking trans people in public. I've see a few of so-called GC brigade say 'this isn't what we wanted' but it is the end, isn't it? If you do see trans people as disgusting abusive perverts trying to sneak into your changing rooms and hurt your daughter, you'd want them to be bashed in public yeah?

Am I wrong to think their chickens are coming home to roost and certain posters will want to claim they never had a hand in it all?

No view on the horribly vicious and violent threats towards gender critical women, @helpfulucy? I saw one post saying gender critical women should be gang raped, and another saying they should be genitally mutilated. Do you think gender critical women should be decapitated? Raped? Murdered? Assaulted?

The vast majority of the violent threats have been from trans rights activists, towards women whose only crime is to say that human beings cannot change sex, and women and girls need and deserve single SEX spaces. So why are we the ones you are scolding.

Further info about crime by (mainly male) offenders who ID as trans here, sadly, for those interested.

I’d forgotten about the Ipswich murderer Steve Wright who cross dressed. He’s just been convicted of murdering a teenage girl in 1999, 9 years earlier than the Ipswich murders.

The fear of being attacked by men is one of the reasons transwomen don't feel safe using the Gents.

I really, really doubt that. Yes that's a justification given in their external discourse, but in their internal discourse on Reddit and other sites it's always a joyous "I malefailed" because somebody gave an astonished, rather than threatening look and/or pointed them to the ladies.

Besides which, it's visibly gay men who we documentedly know ARE being harassed in toilets. Yet neither they nor anyone else are arguing that the only panacea to this problem is for all gay nen to use the women's toilets henceforth.

MN don’t like deviants in dresses.

Cocks in frocks being used.

MN are in bed with GLP - shameful.

LMFAO like clock work these threads.

Always makes you think of the aggressive far right posters on MN eh?

I’m not sure I understand what point you making. Can you clarify?

LadyUrsula · 14/09/2026 17:59

I don't care how many transwomen there are because they don't bother me any more than any other men bother me. They can dress how they like, identify however they like, love whom they like without any interference from me. I'd happily work alongside transwomen and I interact with them in public in exactly the same way that I interact with everyone else.

However, I want to keep female-only spaces as just that and as transwomen are male, they shouldn't be included. Women don't know which male people are safe or which male people to trust around them as they undress or as their daughters undress. That's why in some spaces we want to exclude all males, including those who identify as transwomen.

Transwomen should have access to gender neutral spaces as well as male spaces, leaving female spaces to female people.

I just wonder who the Mumsnetter's will blame once they've had their precious way and women are still being attacked and SA'd by men. Perhaps then they will see it is men that are the problem, and by deflecting away from that because they dislike what they do not understand or refuse to educate themselves on; will indeed result in further harm to women.

Women have always been attacked my men, that won't change, sadly.

On the other hand, for several years now women have had men invading our private spaces, sports and organisations and have been unable to complain or report this abuse to police etc.

Why?

Because these men have claimed to be a kind of "woman" so entitled to be there. Institutions have gone along with this lunacy for some years until finally, with the committed incredible work of For Women Scotland et al, the law has been identified, legally clarified and finally put into practice.

So, yes men WILL continue to abuse us but now at least we can get the ones who pretend to be us OUT. Not before time.

If activists had gone down the third space, trans women are trans women route then we wouldn’t need to discuss anything.

Quite

But they didn’t. And here we are.

helpfulucy · 14/09/2026 17:19

Do you think harassing people based on what the clothes they wear is rational behavior? Especially if you would only apply that standard to one group and not all adults?

No. Harassing someone for what they wear is wrong. Men are on average more aggressive than women.

One of the reasons we want women's only spaces.

A man can wear a dress & a women's coat & court shoes. That's absolutely fine & very few on here would have an issue with that & I think the chances of a violent assault on that man by a woman are close to zero.

The problem is when the man believes he can change sex & can become a woman. Also when the man think that he is entitled to be in women's only spaces.

That's the overall opinion of mumsnet.

Yours is the first aggressive toned post I've seen on AIBU

jammibats · 14/09/2026 17:56

Women need to be able to discuss and organise about a concerted attempt by males to roll back hard won women's rights and erode their privacy and dignity. While its regrettable that anyone gets harassed or intimidated in public women shouldn't have their "be nice" societal programming activated to shame them into letting males just do whatever they want and access women and women's spaces whenever they want. I think you need to remember that transwomen aren't some vulnerable minority, they are men with potentially dubious motivations.

Some times trans people will also need their own unique considerations too. And that's ok. By lumping them with the wrong sex, that may actually harm them.

See healthcare for an example.

heathspeedwell · 14/09/2026 17:51

The sad fact is that men who say they are transwomen are no less likely to be violent than any other men.

It's perfectly reasonable for women to point this out. It's perfectly reasonable for women to not want any men (however they identify) in our spaces.

62% of transwomen in prison have convictions for rape or sexual assault. The Census showed that transwomen are (at most) 0.2% of the population and yet there are 151 transwomen in prison with convictions for sex crimes.

Women are 51% of the population but there are only 134 women in prison with convictions for sex crimes.

It's clear that transwomen aren't just twice as likely to be violent than us. Or 20 times as likely. They are hundreds of times more likely to be violent than us. It's not unreasonable for women to want to talk about this.

"Almost two thirds of transgender prisoners who identify as female are convicted sex offenders, new data has revealed.
Out of the 245 transwomen inmates, who are legally recognised as male, a total of 151, or 62 per cent, had committed at least one sexual offence."

Almost two thirds of trans women prisoners are sex offenders

I am "gender-blind" so do not see what a person imagines themselves to be. Therefore it is not wrong for me to see a man on the train who may choose to dress in a feminine fashion. I would not expect this man to use any private facilities which are for women and girls. If this man did use women's private facilities, I would clock him as a predator. Why? Because good men stay out of women's private facilities, bad men invade them and gaslight women that they are, in fact, women like them Hmm.

We will be sad but not surprised men still behave badly and get away with it, but glad that at least we have regained the single sex spaces, rights and resources that were supposed to protect us against male agression and entitlement, give us respite and space to support each other and heal, and glad that we have clear language back with which to understand and share our experiences and with which to make our political case.

Oh, and we will be fucking angry that so much effort that could have been supporting women to move forward had to go in to fighting not to be dragged backwards into being redefined against our will from the female half of humanity in all our diversity into some sort of personality trait based on sexist ideas about what types of minds men and women are allowed to have 😡

Why are you trying to blame women for the things men do?

S/he won't answer this, or what the rates of violence against transpeople are, as a % split between men and women offnders.

SueKeeper · 14/09/2026 17:47

OP, did you go and find a Tommy Robinson's fan club type group to go and argue against about this? If not, why not? Is it because you'd find these men intimidating and it's easier to get at women? Doesn't that tell you something?

Here's who I think is to blame for this incident:

  1. The thuggish man abusing the trans woman
  2. The audience of his (which is not on here) who he is filming for knowing he'll get praise from them
  3. The online TRAs and sycophants who have set the TW up to fail by telling him how gorgeous he is and how well he passes

Not to blame: women who have no link to either party and nothing at all in common with either of them

Yes, I agree. It’s not really my top priority though, they have very powerful advocacy groups.

Indeed.

They are more than capable of sorting their own shit out.

I am not necessary to do their emotional labour for them. I am too busy defending myself from the removal of services for women to do that.
