AIBU to think of course all the anti-trans posts on this website and others are leading to real life harm?

Just seen a video of a trans woman minding her business in a train station getting horribly bullied by some Tommy Robinson wanna-be and couldn't help but think back to all the aggressive threads I've seen on Mumsnet.

Pages and pages of vilifying innocent trans people, calling them perverts and all sorts with zero evidence of anything of the sort of course would lead to people like this harassing and attacking trans people in public. I've see a few of so-called GC brigade say 'this isn't what we wanted' but it is the end, isn't it? If you do see trans people as disgusting abusive perverts trying to sneak into your changing rooms and hurt your daughter, you'd want them to be bashed in public yeah?

Am I wrong to think their chickens are coming home to roost and certain posters will want to claim they never had a hand in it all?

As a pp said @helpfulucy you are simply a misogynist. You are blaming a group of unrelated women for some nasty street harassment by a man to another man. It has zero to do with anyone here. And most people reading your thread think you're wrong.

Hope this helps.

A lot of rape counselling is group therapy, plus the counsellor themselves. It’s very clear how poor your understanding is of this issue, and you don’t seem to be able to back any of it up, so not sure what you're hoping to achieve. Men are not women. Sometimes women need things based on their sex.

Ok apologies if I have said the wrong thing. I don't have a dog in this fight. I will bow out ..Packing to go away for a few days. Happy debating 😁

I see the issue and yes, some women feel threatened by trans women. But I have never considered toilets to be a safe space. I don't believe there are any safe spaces. Even in our homes we are not .' safe". I find any talk of safe spaces infantilism.

Sorry but I'm not going to get into a debate about this..I would like to think we can all respect each others views..

So because we will never be 100% safe let’s not bother, is that right?

You don’t want to even TRY to make the world safer for women and children?

Sorry but I'm not going to get into a debate about this..I would like to think we can all respect each others views..

I absolutely will never respect the views of people who think predatory men should be in women’s single sex spaces. Why should I? And why can’t men be respectful and follow the law and stay the fuck out our spaces?

So your message, which you won’t debate is “Women STFU, be kind and budge up for predatory men”?

Oh you’re back OP. 85% of 1029 posters think YABU.

Clearly I've underestimated how much time other posters spend here if just going to sleep and getting the day started is too long of a break. How do any of you get anything done? 😂

Rape crisis used to be ‘safe’ at least from makes. Similar to domestic violence support. I feel safer in female only toilets. How you feel doesn’t reflect the majority of female views.

Yes I agree that how I feel doesnt reflect the majority of female views. Also I'm not sure the pages of Mumsnet will necessarily reflect the majority of female views..

@TheKeatingFive I am not well versed in the ins and outs of this debate. I was only referring to communal spaces.Clearly places such as a rape counselling room are not communal and , ( as far as I'm aware) only one woman would ever be seen in each.

Most men who pretend to be women are fetishists. They are straight men who have wanked themselves into autogynephilia.

I said what I said.

Oh I believe you really think that and thank you for being one of the few honest posters on your side.

I have every confidence that your view is what most of them secretly believe and they are just too cowardly to own it.

Exhibit B for anyone still claiming that there is not a culture of deeming all trans people dangerous perverts. Do you really not see how this inflammatory language is leading to real life harm?

I suppose no man should care about women and girls being harmed because if he didn't do it and it's not his wife or daughter, not his problem, right?

My God, this and the posters mocking trans people dying either by suicide or otherwise are despicable. You callousness is genuinely disturbing.

Really? You think women on Mumsnet are responsible for men being violent and abusive? Drawing a direct line from posters being concerned about single sex spaces to a man being abusive and vile to a trans-identifying man is bizarre. So are you suggesting that because men may be violent, we should stop asking for our right to single sex spaces? Bizarre.

Nothing as deep as that. It was just a way to express who is on what side.

This is a thread about anti-trans, after all.

describing a group of people as anti-trans could be considered derogatory.

It is usually also false. Because many people that some people consider ‘anti-trans’ are not that at all, they include female people with transgender identities in their activism but not male people.

It has become a lazy way to demonise feminists and women and girl’s rights campaigners. But surely you know that if you personally use that term to label people.

IHaveQuestionsLotsOfQuestions · 15/09/2026 09:26

I've seen that video and as far as I'm concerned, all it shows is two men being twats in different ways.

One is indulging his fetish in public and co-opting non-consenting onlookers as his fetish props.

The other is a misogynist bully.

I'm not sure how either are supposed to be our problem?

Who said the posters I am referring to are women? Mumsnet is in fact not a single sex space

Well it wouldn’t be would it, where is?

REMEMBERthemALL · 15/09/2026 10:02

FreshJalapenos · 14/09/2026 20:50

BTW OP do you care about the hundreds of actual women who get harassed on public transport every day?

I suspect not.

And BTW, a hallmark of misogyny is blaming the next woman when a man behaves badly. The video you describe is a man harassing another man. It is not the fault of women and it’s certainly not women’s problem to solve

This @helpfulucy

A man picks on a man in a dress and its a problem caused by mumsnet.

It's not, it's a man problem. Men attack women every day, does that worry you too, or are you only concerned when a man in a dress is picked on.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/09/2026 10:01

I’m sure this is all leading up to “why do you allow men to post in FWR if you say you want female only spaces” and it’s all very silly because however annoying a male poster might be, he would be less welcome when I was in a female toilet or changing room due to the fact that I don’t want any men in there, including “feminist” men or men who claim to be women.

Are you including all the TRA male posters? If not, it’ll be a hell of a lot more males posting than 10. You can usually tell because after the first few rounds of no, their male entitlement and rage kicks in. If people are respectful and pleasant and wish to support feminism, what does it matter what sex they are? Unless they’re posting MRA rhetoric, how can you tell? I might be male for all you know

I can think of at least 5 regular or semi regular antagonists who I strongly believe to be men.

5128gap · 15/09/2026 09:58

I don't think male people belong in women's spaces. I think TW are male people. So that includes them. And that's all there is to it for me. I don't wish anyone any harm, I don't judge anyone as a pervert, I condemn violence snd abuse of trans people. But I want women's spaces to be for women only. I don't think that's unreasonable.

REMEMBERthemALL · 15/09/2026 09:57

chattyness · 14/09/2026 15:50

Most women don't want anyone to be bashed in public or otherwise, we just want our single sex spaces, facilities, healthcare, sports & services to remain female only. If men in dresses would just stay out of them and campaign for their own instead then everyone would happier.

This.

TheKeatingFive · 15/09/2026 09:57

I have asked this many times but I would really love to know what is so offensive, problematic, far right ‘anti trans’ about women wanting their legal rights to single sex spaces upheld?

Can anyone enlighten me?

Rollingpinofdoom · 15/09/2026 09:56

Moosli · 15/09/2026 09:50

OMG I missed a word! Please add ‘posts’ after ‘anti-trans’. Does that help the disingenuous among us?

No not really. What “anti-trans” are these posts about?

soddingspiderseason · 15/09/2026 09:55

How are you defining “trans”? The issue for me is self ID, which enables any man who says he’s a woman to potentially access spaces that should be female only, like rape crisis, domestic violence support, changing rooms. Women have always been kind to the very small numbers of trans identifying men with gender dysphoria; but self ID enables men with autogynophilia and a power/control kick to demand access to female spaces. That’s where the issue lies. No-one supports physical violence, we just want to feel safe and have dignity.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/09/2026 09:55

I know, for example, a type of poster who I would label “community disrupters” and I often realise when they have changed name. I don’t call it out if it’s not against guidelines. If I think they are PBP then I report.

Rollingpinofdoom · 15/09/2026 09:55

Moosli · 15/09/2026 09:45

And that’s just fine with you?

We’ve gone from very few to up to 10 here. Up to 10 regular male posters on the feminist board. That’s who you know about, and there’s likely more that you don’t.
