AIBU to think of course all the anti-trans posts on this website and others are leading to real life harm?

Just seen a video of a trans woman minding her business in a train station getting horribly bullied by some Tommy Robinson wanna-be and couldn't help but think back to all the aggressive threads I've seen on Mumsnet.

Pages and pages of vilifying innocent trans people, calling them perverts and all sorts with zero evidence of anything of the sort of course would lead to people like this harassing and attacking trans people in public. I've see a few of so-called GC brigade say 'this isn't what we wanted' but it is the end, isn't it? If you do see trans people as disgusting abusive perverts trying to sneak into your changing rooms and hurt your daughter, you'd want them to be bashed in public yeah?

Am I wrong to think their chickens are coming home to roost and certain posters will want to claim they never had a hand in it all?

Maybe a flamenco dance troupe could have been hired to soften it a bit?

💃💃💃

Oh yes. I knew it was missing something. @dreamiesformolly is that better?

As to what tone would be acceptable? 💐💐💐💐 men are not women and never will beeeee 💐💐💐💐💐. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗. Is that a nice enough tone? I even did flowers and jazz hands.

I wouldn’t be surprised @Rollingpinofdoom

of course it is - you don't enter an area set up for debate, criticise it and then when asked to evidence your complaint waffle and say it is not about specific words and posts but the general tone!

a) words and posts make up the general tone
b) you don't get to set constraints on posters' tone (as long as it is within MN guidelines then it is fine!)

it is justifiable that women should be furious with the arrogance of men who want to walk all over them, with men who want to remove their rights, with men who want to invade their spaces...

considering that, it is amazing how reasonable is the tone on here!

You’d be surprised how often I have to restrain myself from typing what I really want to say to these bozos

Anything. You apparently don't like the tone so how do women say 'No' on here without upsetting men in a dress in some random streets?

TheKeatingFive · 15/09/2026 13:21

dreamiesformolly · 15/09/2026 13:16

Neither extreme is OK. Obviously.

Are you saying that what you see on Mumsnet is in any way applicable to this?

If so that’s an outrageous claim.

Can you give us evidence that what’s on here is equivalent to ‘stab your local terf’ or ‘terfs can suck on my girl d*ck’? Because I’d be very interested to see that.

ArabellaScott · 15/09/2026 13:20

Rollingpinofdoom · 15/09/2026 13:18

So women saying men are not women is comparable to the stuff on TERF is a slur site? Wow!

'men are afraid women will laugh at them, women are afraid men will kill them'.

The double standards are glaring, and depressing.

Men who say they are scared to share spaces with men for fear of abuse are vulnerable and marginalised and must be supplied with women's spaces to soothe their hurt feelings.

Women who say they are scared to shared spaces with men for fear of abuse are bigoted and must be attacked.

don't forget that the actual TERF is a slur site is a literal physical violence against 'trans people' - even when all it is doing is holding up a mirror to their own statements!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/09/2026 13:20

dreamiesformolly · 15/09/2026 13:15

Except that I don't 'think women shouldn’t have single sex spaces because men want to use them'. What makes you assume that?

Then you’re a terf too? What’s the problem then? You’re a terf on mumsnet, vilified by “everyone” apparently

Come on. It's not about specific words or posts, it's about the general tone of MN where this issue is concerned.

OP I completely agree with you, although in MN world that's probably enough to get me labelled a TRA. 🙄

Rollingpinofdoom · 15/09/2026 12:30

Or it could be that none of the TRA give a shiny shit about TIF, because TIF are female. They are wheeled out as a gotcha every now and then, but nah, TRA don’t care about them. The SC protected TIF by affirming their rights to abortions, pregnancy care and sex relevant screening. Why are the TRA not celebrating this? Surely that’s a good thing for transpeople right?

The SC judgement also prevents TIF from being out in male prisons, psych wards and allows them to access female only RCC provisions. A TIF was put in a male psych ward and raped twice within hours of being there. That can’t happen now. So tell me again why the SC judgement should be reversed?

Also ensures transmen/TIFs have their maternity and pregnancy rights protected, of course.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/09/2026 13:18

“Yah op you’re totes right how awful other women are for saying no to men without grovelling, I don’t really want to make any sort of case because I don’t know how and I realise there probably isn’t one, but I just want you to know that the 84% of 1134 posters in the poll who disagree with you are just wrong and in reality everyone agrees that these women are awful”

So you agree with what women are saying, you don’t like the tone? Would you like it better if you imagined we were saying it with simpering smiles on our faces
personally I don’t like the death threats, rape threats and threats of violence issued against women for saying no to males in female spaces. What’s your opinion? Do you believe women should be “raped with a splintery rolling pin” for saying men are not women? Do you think feminist conferences should be disrupted with mobs of angry men banging on the windows and screaming abuse?

While not ideal I do think the solution we are heading to is all gender neutral facilities. I'm not personally thrilled with it but I'm sure many here are even less so.

I do think before we get there though there will be more harassing and violence for all minorities in this country as it seems many people have lost any sense of shame to keep their hateful opinions to themselves.

of course we are not...

it has nothing to do with gender which is an external societal of-the-moment snapshot of stereotypes for men and women.

it has everything to do with sex

women need spaces restricted to only their sex
men do as well - though far less

  • toilets
  • changing rooms
  • prisons
  • hospital wards
  • school-trip / uniform organisations' sleeping arrangements
  • etc.

women do not want and must not have men in those spaces
mixed-gender (as well as being a wishy-washy description) allows men who pretend to be women to join women in those spaces...
gender-neutral also allows that as the chances of having every space rigorously isolated is zero...

the 'trans' debate is fascinating because even two year olds I know can tell the difference between men and women - they know that they are a boy or girl etc.

and biology /reality says you can not change

so the debate doesn't exist - we all know that a man is a man even when pretending to be a woman - and the simple approach is to keep men and women separate when necessary

If you see a post vilifying trans people, report it. If you have evidence of any posts attacking trans people that have been allowed to stand, then please show your receipts. I suspect you don't have any....

'Am I being reasonable?'
'84% of people say yes, what is your solution to the problem?'
'Get rid of all safeguards so that perverts are safe on our streets'.

Once again, do none of you have day jobs to be at? Only a few mins to reply just now but to answer your question I think all threats of violence are abhorrent but this thread was specifically about how social media, including mumsnet but also others, have whipped up mobs online that are now spilling over into the real world. That includes anti-trans, anti-immigrant and all the Andrew Tate ant-women nonsense.

I just looked up one of the women mentioned above who has been threatened Kellie-Jay Keen and this is one of the first things on her profile: https://x.com/ThePosieParker/status/2099716166578999722

And I quote: "I don’t care if perverts are treated badly by others in public. The more torment and shame the better, if you ask me."

as a direct response to the video I mentioned in the beginning.

So forgive me if, give this evidence clear as day, I don't believe the posters claiming they don't agree with her. She seems to be quite a figurehead and is actively saying that the innocent trans person in the video deserved what happened in that train station. Even calling for more!

Are you now going to tell me that actively calling for more of this behavior against trans women just going about their day in public is just pro-woman or can you have some decency to concede that this is anti-trans, plain and simple?

Are you equally as keen to talk about Sarah Jane Baker leading several trans marches and calling for violence against women? As an actual violent criminal, I'm sure you'll be more concerned about him than KJK, right? Or are you simply another dick pandering misogynist after all?
