AIBU to think of course all the anti-trans posts on this website and others are leading to real life harm?

Just seen a video of a trans woman minding her business in a train station getting horribly bullied by some Tommy Robinson wanna-be and couldn't help but think back to all the aggressive threads I've seen on Mumsnet.

Pages and pages of vilifying innocent trans people, calling them perverts and all sorts with zero evidence of anything of the sort of course would lead to people like this harassing and attacking trans people in public. I've see a few of so-called GC brigade say 'this isn't what we wanted' but it is the end, isn't it? If you do see trans people as disgusting abusive perverts trying to sneak into your changing rooms and hurt your daughter, you'd want them to be bashed in public yeah?

Am I wrong to think their chickens are coming home to roost and certain posters will want to claim they never had a hand in it all?

Some women have been and are. The book makes a compelling case about the line between activism and extremism.

Which women though? Women on MN who believe in women’s sex based rights? Or some other women?

If I asked you to read a book about how naive left leaning women are manipulated to prop up misogyny against other women, would you?

Honestly I think the whole trans ideology is damaging and giving rise to even more right wing assaults, which are of course terrible and horrendous.

Here me out..If you believe in trans identity you are in effect believing that a man who is feminine is not actually a man at all but a biological woman.

If men could accept that ‘feminine’ men are valid men or men who wear pink and boas are valid men (not women) then perhaps the male population might be more accepting of non-manly men. Men come in all personalities and preferences, as a sex class this should be embraced.

This is a man problem.

No, I do not believe women wanting their legal rights upheld is far right.
I still suggest reading the book as it shows how some women have been manipulated into giving up women’s rights by the far right while being manipulated into thinking they are fighting for women’s rights.

Which women are they then?

AmberTigerEyes · 15/09/2026 16:49

TheKeatingFive · 15/09/2026 16:45

So you think that women’s fighting for their rights to single sex spaces are being manipulated by the far right?

Or otherwise why bring it up?

Some women have been and are. The book makes a compelling case about the line between activism and extremism.

@AmberTigerEyes I'm a rape and DV survivor. Am I far right for saying that when I fled to a womens' refuge, I needed a female only space in which to recover from male violence? Am I far right for requiring female HCPs to perform intimate examinations and procedures? Am I far right for being afraid to be alone in a public toilet late in the evening with a man I don't know (as most women will, but those with a history of sexual assault/male violence are likely to feel this more acutely)?

What's really curious is that everyone who's ever known me has thought me to be a bit of 'lefty'. What a bizarre timeline we're on where women's requirements to safe, single sex spaces are considered far right, and are often trumped by the demands of men in order to 'be kind'.

No to all. Really taken aback with how my simply posting the title of a book which contained ‘far right’ in it has morphed into a weird and daft suggestion that I think advocating for women’s rights is far right.

(I am also a rape and DV survivor)

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 15/09/2026 16:44

Hang on, we can’t blame trans people for the misbehaviour of a few appalling sex criminals who happen to be trans or men, and we mustn’t organise rules around sex segregated spaces because of a few appalling sex criminals who happen to be trans or men.

But we can blame women who are campaigning to preserve women’s rights, for the behaviour of a Tommy wannabe who harasses a trans identifying man in a train station.

Okie Dokie.

AmberTigerEyes · 15/09/2026 16:43

ArabellaScott · 15/09/2026 13:40

It seems laughably daft to suggest that advocating for women’s rights is 'far right'.

There is a serious aspect to it, though, because the indiscriminate use of 'far right' as a slur has consequences.

For a start, this twittery exacerbates tribalism, black and white thinking, and creates silos within which people fail to learn to exercise critical thinking. It undermines the left and is damaging to social discourse.

Yes, it is daft to suggest that advocating for women’s rights is far right.
So why did you make such a suggestion?

AmberTigerEyes · 15/09/2026 16:41

Rollingpinofdoom · 15/09/2026 16:36

No. As the TRA are very fond of saying do your own research and educate yourself. I’m not Google. I did my research and went from full on trans ally to TERF. Best thing I ever did.

I’m not asking you to be google. I was asking if you’d like to share the books you had read on Jon Money, Volkmar Sirtusch and Peter Smith. I suppose it’s a secret then. Why are you ashamed to mention the books?

AmberTigerEyes · 15/09/2026 16:40

TheKeatingFive · 15/09/2026 13:35

@AmberTigerEyesfo you genuinely believe that women wanting their legal rights upheld is ‘far right’? You really think that?

Minority of the vote.

AmberTigerEyes · 15/09/2026 16:35

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/09/2026 13:32

Don’t believe men are women? You must be “far right”! It’s the only answer.

Might want to read the book. It doesn’t say anything close to that btw.

AmberTigerEyes · 15/09/2026 16:34

Rollingpinofdoom · 15/09/2026 13:31

I read books on Jon Money. Volkmar Sirtusch and Peter Smith and how they , as well as being pedophile apologists, were very active in the rise of gender ideology. Shall we talk about that if we want to talk about affiliations? Oh do let’s. It’ll be fun….

AmberTigerEyes · 15/09/2026 16:33

ArabellaScott · 15/09/2026 13:29

Are you saying women's rights are 'far right'?

Not at all. The “far right” is part of the title of the book I read:
“Pink Pilled: Women and the Far Right by Lois Shearing”

akkakk · 15/09/2026 16:31

TheKeatingFive · 15/09/2026 15:23

I never got a penny of that. How do I claim my far right money? Anyone know?

Ahhh - you must have missed the memo...

you have to show you are serious first, so if I give you some bank account details - you deposit £1,000 to show you are serious and worthy of access to the millions being shared, and then the payments will just roll in...

...for someone 😀

At risk of derailing, can I recommend the book Home Grown by Joan Smith. So many perpetrators of terrorist acts had a history of domestic violence, but guess what? That wasn't counted in their risk assessments (...whereas cruelty to animals was.)
Had it been, many of them would have scored as higher risk and been better monitored. I'm massively paraphrasing of course, but that was a common factor.

Yes, it’s highly predictive.

It is entertaining.

Women, prove you are not smelly old right wingers by abandoning your rights!

Good, virtuous women don't want rights! Or legal protections! Or legal protections for gay people!

Good virtuous women let men use their bodies without resistance!

Ffs, how does any of that connect with actual left wing politics?

As oppose to omnicause no-thoughts-just-vibes idiots? (Apparently a worrying number of MPs in that group.)

Edited

The left wing nutjobs are going to look even more stupid if there is another massive credit crunch.

But how would you know that person was a man? Plenty of biological women wear wigs, or are tall, or have big hands, or have some facial hair, or a deep voice, or aren’t pretty, or wear clothes that don’t suit them. You can’t tell by looking at a person. Transphobia means that all women get judged on what we look like and suspected of being secret males if we don’t conform to beauty standards.

How would we know that person was a man? Excellent flailing there - quite outstanding.

"Just as a compass needle always points north, so a man's accusing finger will always find a woman. Always."

From a book by Khaled Hosseini - I cannot remember which one.

Great quote

Depressing but great

Greengage1983 · 14/09/2026 17:13

One of the rules of misogyny innit - whenever a man does something wrong, there is ALWAYS a woman you can find to blame for it. ALWAYS. If his victim is a woman, then it's her fault. You can also blame his female girlfriend, his mother... or in this case, some feminists on the internet asking for privacy are responsible for some meathead violent man they've never met.

As women have been saying for years: if violent men took that much notice of feminists, women wouldn't have been oppressed all these millennia 🙄

I have sympathy for genuine TW. It must be very difficult

But single sex should mean single sex

And we need to be honest that males can never become female, whatever surgery / drugs they take. Emperor's New Clothes springs to mind

Totally agree.

Why do you have sympathy out of interest? I have sympathy for anyone struggling with mental health issues but there surely has to be a better way for this group of people.

Dress as you like but stop trying to convince people you are something that you are not being the most obvious.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 15/09/2026 15:34

Yep. Women are always used as playing chips in men's cultural wars. Our role in this is to visually perform their cultural values, whether that means wearing the veil or unrobing with trans women. And they fight each other with fury over which group of men gets to decide what "good" women must do.
