In your experience, can men handle alcohol better than women? (Lighthearted, i am not a misogynist)

Just watching my beloved Two Doors Down -(Colin claims men can handle their drink better, so Beth downs a pint in one to prove him wrong) - which inspired my thread

Whats your experience on this?

I think i can handle mine okay but I am sure I would be outdrunk by people with an actual proper social life 😩

Yabu - men can definitely handle it better
Yanbu - what you on about, I know a woman who can drink any man under the table!

It's going to depend on a lot of factors including physiology, height, weight, tolerance built up. Physiologically I think being larger men's bodies are better able to tolerate it. Psychologically based on who gets arrested on a Saturday night you could say women hold their drink better but maybe men drink more in the first place.

The men I know can handle far more pints purely as they have bigger bodies

Totally and utterly depends on the individual, and what you mean by “handle”.

I suppose in very general terms, men are on average physically larger and can probably drink more volume.

Handle? In my experience women don’t get pissed and start beating the shite of of their partners/children or randoms in the pub who look at them wrong so ‘ handle’ is very subjective.

I think your right. At 60 years of age ive seen that roughly the same amount of alcohol drunk by women causes more damage to them than it does to a man

I worked in bars & nightclubs for years when I was a sixth former & student. One of the things I learned is that alcohol turns some people into nice, sweet, chatty characters. And it turns others into complete arseholes. Irrespective of gender.

Men are larger than women, so it obviously takes proportionately more alcohol to have the same effect. Men who can’t handle their booze become belligerent violent thugs. Women who can’t handle their booze become screeching, crying, hysterical emotional messes. Both are just as much of a nightmare to deal with.

Generally I understand women can't drink as much as men. I think we process it faster so get drunker faster. So on a population level, thats right, but that doesn't apply to all individuals.

Men are generally bigger, so can cope with larger amounts of alcohol. It's not rocket science.

Yes men can drink more like for like and have less affect than women (generally). Due to larger size and higher muscle mass. Of course there are exceptions. A man who never drinks would likely feel the effect more than a woman who is a regular drinker as the body becomes more used to it.

Cath can outdrink all of them tbf ! So he doesn't know what he is on about 😂

Seriously though women process alcohol differently to men apparently so men can "handle it" better. And once a woman reaches menopause she only needs a thimble full and thats her
