I find it very worrying - on MN on particular - that so many posters think.it's acceptable and normal.to talk about women on a 10/:10 scale. Themselves and others.
I'm older generation and I was part of the women's movement who fought against the cattle shows of Miss World and other so called beauty pageants. Where women were
given numerical ratings like prize cows. And yet here we are in the 21st century and women are enthusiastically and voluntarily rating themselves and others in a similar way.
It actually shocks me that women are still being conditioned to see their worth being evaluated in societal norms of what attractiveness should be and actually participating in this rating
I look at at women and I would say that overwhelmingly there is beauty: whether it be a physical feature or featires, whether it is their personality shining through, whether it is their intelligence., or their kindness. But how on earth does this ridiculous 10/ 10 scale have anything to do with the reality and complexity of real women? What has it got to do with beauty or attractiveness?
