Working in schools

I'm genuinely fed up of working in schools.

I have worked in the education industry for 20 years. I've worked in some lovely schools. I'm not a teacher I am support staff.

I began a job last September but didn't like it as it was so cliche. I left as soon as I could and began another job this September. This school is so cliche too and everyone is so two faced. One of the managers sometimes lies about others with what they've done within their job and then gaslights them when they point out and prove they didn't. I've been here since Weds last week and already I'm hating it.

I'm so fed up and it is putting me off staying in the industry.

There's no jobs in my area within schools to apply for with support staff as they were all hired in July. I'm looking at working from home jobs but I need term time. I'm so down as I enjoy my career but it's the staff.

I’m sorry you’re feeling so down, my advice would be to see it as ‘just a job’. Walk in at 8:50 and out at 3:20 (or whatever your contracted hours are). Do not see it as a social arena. What people say or do during your work hours is a reflection of them, not you. You are there to do and job and get paid, then go home.

Not sure what you mean by cliche, unless you mean the cliche of a bitchy school (or did you mean cliquey? In which case -
deffo keep all relationships distant and professional).

eta: and keep a low profile and a written record of evverrrything. Sounds like you can’t trust the managers.

Yes sorry I mean Cliquey.

I think that's my way going forward. I will still keep my eye out for other jobs too.
