Mirena coil - literal nightmares - can’t be coincidence??

Had the mirena coil fitted over 2 weeks ago. After week 1 I started a period and have been bleeding ever since. I was already anaemic (adenomyosis) and now I feel utterly exhausted all the time and well as panicky and anxious.

that was before the literal nightmares started. In the space of a week I’ve had 3 awful nightmares including being attacked by a creature (woke up screaming), witnessing a psychopath murdering multiple residents in a nursing home and a woman deliberately stepping out in front of a bus committing suicide in front of me.

i never had nightmares before. I feel like im going crazy. The nurse assured me that mirena coil wouldn’t effect my mood like the pill did. This feels worse. I’m scared to go to sleep.

AIBu to think this change in my mental health in two weeks can’t be a coincidence??

mirena was terrible to me, got me anxious, panic attacks, insomniac … have it removed and see how you feel. Believe yourself

They keep telling me to give it 3 months but if this carries on for 3 months I’ll be a nervous wreck by the end of it

My sister turned almost suicidal when her mirena was put in she got it out and was back to normal within a week

I tried it and was so angry and snappy and exhausted that I almost divorced my poor husband who had no idea what had hit me/him. Had it removed and went back to normal

Some women really dont get on with it. They really should warn us before putting it in.

My DD on the other hand loves it and is fine

Go and get yours out sharpish

I wouldn’t have the coil for menopause, I never got on with the pill.

I have since realised that I am very sensitive to progesterone, I felt like I needed to go into a nut house. I’d rock back and forth, cry, and was very anxious. I have seen a menopause specialist who has tailored a regimen for me with the shortest use of progesterone, I dread those two weeks but it’s only every 3 months.

I feel for you with your adenomyosis diagnosis, myself and my daughter have suffered endometriosis. My daughters was so bad she’s had a hysterectomy, she too is so very sensitive to progesterone. She hasn’t had children, she needed a life and quite honestly convincing the gynaecologist that there’s more to life than procreation was a bloody nightmare.

Bugger what the clinicians say, you know your body, ask them to remove it before you kill someone, that should get their attention. Take care, 🌺

I got on fine with it but definitely don’t wait- get it out now. I had similar problems taking magnesium and everyone told me to stay on, and I did but finally gave up. Nightmares gone! Did a little experiment and took it again and they came back. It’s not agreeing with you so insist

Dd was a panic attack mess anxiety was huge. It’s was awful

I also had huge issues with mirena and had it removed. However, I also got the crazy and very vivid dreams with it. In fact I also got them if I started a new contraceptive pills, it's related to the hormones.

Magnesium gives me insomnia, headaches etc. other people swear by it but it defo doesn't agree with some of us!
