Why hasn’t Michael Jackson been cancelled??

I’ve been out at a 80s day disco today… loads of fun. But it struck me that people were still delighted by MJ… why? He was a wrong ‘un of the very worst kind. How come he hasn’t been cancelled?!

He was found not guilty and I will continue to attend Michael jackson tribute bands - planning to go to another concert in London a month’s time - he was a musical genius

Oooh which one? I’m going to one and was lucky to get tickets, they were being snapped up so fast

People can only ignore the fact that he abused children because it’s not publicly acknowledged and there has never been a full investigation like there was with Savile.

If his crimes were fully acknowledged people would stop listening to him naturally.

It's fascinating to me

I think when folk are such huge fans they come to idolise the person, and to have to admit that not only were thay not perfect like every one of us, but to have to admit that they did something so horrible takes something away from them. So they close their eyes and ears and turn themselves in knots to make every excuse.

On a lighter note he looked Martin Bashir in the eye and denied all sorts of plastic surgery😁

I dont think he was a terrible person. He was deeply damaged by his awful parents - his body dysmorphia stemmed from that, as well as other issues. He did have a weird relationship with children but we will never know what exactly went on.

Re his music - well, some people hate Queen, Abba, The Beatles... You do you. I wonder what kind of music is not naff? Just out of curiosity.

That’s okay then. He may not be a terrible person, so that excuses any allegations against him. A get out of jail card. Jimmy Saville raised thousands of pounds for charity, and yet… .

localnotail · 13/09/2026 14:19

I dont think you should compare anyone to Saville - that man is in the league of his own. He raped children, old people, dead people - he was gross, violent and completely perverted.

That's what makes the world a wonderful place, subjective opinions. My point was that I can separate the artist from the art. Conviction had bugger all to do with my post,

I hold on to my opinion that Michael was a disgusting piece of humanity. If folk like his ridiculous persona and naff music and can ignore the fact he abused children it shouldn't be cancelled, it's part of musical history.

You’re making your own narrative, I don’t say anything about the number of victims, merely the quality of evidence.

Listen, people in better positions to judge than you or me made a call that MJ wasn’t guilty in a court of law. The validity of the evidence discovered subsequently hasn’t been enough to overturn that. That isn’t the case with Saville.

I really don’t know why you think your opinion holds any weight here.

A jury found OJ Simpson not guilty. Some people are blinded by celebrity

WigglywagglyWanda · 13/09/2026 14:14

Got to admit that I cheered Jarvis Cocker mooning at him singing in his Christ like figure pose surrounded by children dressed in rags. Considering what he was at it was truly disgusting.

Go Jarvis

Kevin Spacey was convicted. I dont think MJ ever was?

I think American Beauty is a load of pretentious bollocks.

I don’t understand the ‘he’s not a Saville’ arguement. In both cases, people have testified what has gone on. In the court of law, you only need one victim although more obviously helps to build a case. Yes, there is more evidence against Saville, but that doesn’t negate the fact that there is evidence against MJ.

Anyone who can look at these photos and not see how creepy and predatory this man was is delusional.

Oh gosh l feel a bit sick now seeing these. Crazy how these things are covered up, even the Epstein files, if someone has committed a crime and there is evidence then there should be no reason to hold back information, especially when it is the government sealing the information, like the Rochdale cover up.

localnotail · 13/09/2026 13:57

WigglywagglyWanda · 13/09/2026 10:46

I do get it i suppose, my friend thought he was a musical genius and he's a big part of musical history. Personally I thought he was naff as fuck.😆

His legacy can't be cancelled that's ridiculous, but he was a raging pedophile.

Kevin Spacey is a wrongun but I love American Beauty.

Both things cam be true

I have not read the full thread, but I honestly think it’s because his music is just too good.

Busybeemumm · 13/09/2026 13:48

Maybe we shouldn't cancel those dead and can't defend themselves. What about those alive and spreading their hate and killing innocent people - Trump, Netanyahu and countless others. They have destroyed more lives than anyone in modern history. They are the ones who should be cancelled.

PoliteSquid · 13/09/2026 13:40

Palomiino · 13/09/2026 09:22

Savile abused anyone he could get his hands on. MJ had a type and the way he carried out the abuse was different. He was never violent.

I can’t tell if you’re defending MJ here?

Edited to say I’ve read more of your posts - sorry! I don’t think you’re defending him.

People who defend MJ - WTF????

Listen....people in better positions than us to judge found OJ Simpson not guilty of murder yet the dogs in the streets know he dunnit.

The fleas on the dogs know what Jackson was

One of the jurors said that he wanted to go home so voted not guilty.

People who worked for MJ alleged that he threatened them to keep their mouths shut about things they saw at Neverland. They were threatened by security people all the time.

Being found not guilty doesn’t show he was innocent within the context of all the other evidence there is that he molested children.

Sex offences are very difficult to prove and even the bar for a criminal trial would have to be high. Rapists get off all the time or don’t even get charged - do you think they are innocent, too??

you’re deluding yourself if you think he wasn’t a child molester.

It’s disgusting how we’ve got to a point of people like you saying that multiple accusers of a very similar narrative is not good evidence that something bad happened.

Saville was never tried but the sheer volume and institutional validation of the evidence

Am I? Didn’t you?

No idea why you think a bunch of star struck US jurors are in a better position to judge than anyone else. Or why we aren’t entitled to our opinions.

I listened to an interview with one of the FBI agents who investigated the Gavin Arviso case, after Leaving Neverland came out. He said they knew MJ was guilty at the time and were in touch with other boys he had abused but they weren’t ready to testify against him. He felt that had Safechuck and Dobson testified with Arviso MJ would likely have gone to jail then.

I’d say he’s in a better position to judge than you.

In fairness he would have had no interest in Epsteins island, Epstein favoured underage girls

And after all he had his own purpose built childrens fairground

Edited

Unfortunately it seems that there was more to Epstein’s island than even teenage girls (which was bad enough in itself).

However, I think that although he isn’t in the currently released flight logs, it wouldn’t surprise me if it turns out he was there at some point.

The majority of people with critical thinking skills hold a similar view to that poster.

Honestly I don't know how any grown adult with more than two brain cells to rub together can believe all that nonsense about "he was just an innocent little child in a man's body, they were only his friends", etc. It's so blatantly obvious what he was.

Whether you can separate the music from the person is a separate issue, but at least face up to reality.

Oh I see, for sexual abuse victims to be believed they have to be an awful a lot of them?

Quite enough of MJ’s victims must have come forward now for it to be very clear, and for people like you to have absolutely no excuse.
