My eldest is off to Uni tomorrow, excited and very ready for Freshers week. I'm taking him, I've been packing like he's off on an Enid Blyton story with a fully packed 'tuck'. He's never eaten as many biscuits in his life as I've packed 🤦‍♂️* *it's possibly to do with me being the dreaded menopausal, my first born leaving me. I'm excited for him, he needs it, but how will I know he's OK without the smell of pizza being cooked at 4am? Loud chat from his friends ordering Ubers outside our house at similar times? Feels like that stretch from when they left nursery and went to school. The handover book went and the teacher just sashayed them out, when you'd been used to a full debrief. I know IABU, but I'm not sure I'm ready. Ive already told my husband I'll need a cuddle when I get back.

It's tough, it really is. On the one hand it's an exciting and important milestone, on the other you can't help but worry and miss them dreadfully. At least with social media it's way easier to keep in touch than it used to be. When my two went off to uni we messaged on WhatsApp daily a well as weekly video chats which helped a lot.

I hope today goes well. Will your DS be close enough you could pop down to see them every now and then?

Definitely close enough to pop and see him, but I'm conscious that he needs to spread his wings and fly solo. Ive got him booked in for Sunday lunch in a few weeks for his dad's birthday

Ds was looking forward to going. Me and exdp took him down, unloaded the car and he told us we could leave lol. He's loved his time at uni, going into his third year now. Had a wobble when he was unwell with tonsillitis (along with all of his friends) and came home for a few days. But besides that he's been fine. I did cry saying goodbye, and I came home sat in his room and cried. But seriously the weeks go by so fast, that they're back before you know it.

Oh and I also got life 360 with ds. He was happy to have this and he also likes to keep track of me as I work all over the UK. I use it for him to know when he's at the train station and where his train is, so if I'm getting him, I know when to leave the house. I don't keep track of where he's going, when's he's out etc unless he's home and he's borrowed the car- then I admit to checking it more frequently 🤦‍♀️
