Farmers can grow crops and raise livestock without any need for US software. I'm sure the same could be true for drilling for oil or generating solar energy.

You don't think that everyone who actually worked with computers hadn't already fixed Y2K as a matter of course well in advance. All of my programs were future proofed for 2000 (and tested), it was generally just one line of programming to allow for 19xx and 20xx. No one had to tell us there was a potential problem, the World didn't fix it, it wasn't really a problem at all just an item on the to do list.

I'd start with food security and energy security. Whether it's war, terrorism or AI we are always going to be better off if we are capable of providing the food and energy needs of our population.

That would require government subsidies and policies to make producing food pay and allow north sea oil etc.

So you think Russian AI switching off all our access to tech whilst they keep theirs very much up and running isn’t a threat? Our entire NHS and military is reliant on US technology.

About 25 years ago someone told me robots would take over the world. I thought they were joking at first and laughed, then I thought they were bonkers and argued there's no way it would happen. I think I was wrong.

Because a pandemic could wipe us out but no electricity just means no electricity. The vast majority of people aren't going to die because there is no electric. Hell we could even survive without the internet and 24 hour news - we wouldn't all keel over.

Loss of banking systems would be very difficult. Might be worth having accounts with more than one bank group?

Yes a nuclear bomb could kill us all. We're always at risk of that from a number of people pressing the button though.

It would only be "prolonged and painful" if you stood by and let it be so. There are a multitude of ways you could expedite it yourself assuming it's a certainty anyway.

AI models are run and developed by psychopaths, those in the game who aren't are getting out because there's nothing they can do, except warn of the dangers and buy land to live on.

US and China are famously the only 2 countries in the world!

We should be developing our own tech and reducing reliance on the USA . Europe however is actively working to reduce its reliance on American technology through new policy measures and government shifts.Leaders in the European Union (EU) view heavy dependence on a few U.S. companies-such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google-as a major security risk.

We just focus on immigrants arriving on boats whilst we let Russians come and go as they please. We should be developing our own tech and working closely with the EU but Nige and co would rather strut around in balaclavas at ferry ports and put a stop to any kind of UK EU partnership whilst Russia manipulates them from behind keyboards.

Meanwhile Trump, Putin and China want to carve the world into 3 with USA getting the whole of America, Putin Europe and China the rest.

The two AI developing companies that are farthest ahead want the industry to slow down the development..... sure they’re just concerned for safety and being responsible... Nothing to do with their competitors catching up whatsoever.
