To be hurt that I was called racist over trivial parking incident?

I know, but the post title refers to 'racist' so I'm trying to understand if the use of that word in particular has caused offence. Not saying the comment was warranted.

For clarity, Swinny did not call Orr a racist over giving out free school bags, but because of his undeniably racist remarks about a murder in Edinburgh.

There is no more cheap or meaningless word than "racist" today.

Dont let it bother you for a second. People who call others racists are rarely if ever responding to actual racism, but are seeking to denigrate or silence others.

In the Scottish Parliament today, the Reform leader asked the First Minister (SNP) why they had introduced a policy of giving away free school bags. The First Ministers response was to call him a racist.

But, that "racist" has lost its effect is evident in how often things / people are attacked as being "far right" now. This is the new term, it seems.

There are lots of ways that people can experience being called names for no reason.

Tbh, I suspect that his attitude was more based upon the number of times he has not been able to access an accessible parking space because somebody else will 'only be a minute', 'I've got a big car and need the space to get out' and the like, so he was expecting the OP to go straight for the space instead of parking alongside - and if you add experiencing racism into it, expecting racist abuse or attitude from the types who do abuse disabled parking spaces because he's been on the receiving end of it many times.

You haven't responded to my question about your race. The reason I mentioned this, is because if you've been subjected to racism in the past, it's easy to overreact to what might seem trivial to someone else.

Assuming you're white, you won't have experienced someone calling you names for absolutely no reason. Racism is hurtful, and that's what hundreds of people are subjected to every day - when no incident has occurred.

This incident was trivial to you, but might be triggering to him. Not saying you were unreasonable, I'm trying to help you understand why he may have overreacted.

I just carried on parking in the empty normal spot got out, locked up and he said quite aggressively 'you shouldn't be parking in the disabled spot' I looked back at my car and said "I wasn't" you weirdo

I am deaf and have a mixed race family. I was never accused of racism until 2020 but now it is a regular occurrence.
"I am sorry could you speak a bit louder I am deaf" is what usually prompts it. None white DH and DC explode but I just shrug and walk off because I don't give a fuck, frankly. I know I am not racist, and don't care what they think.
