Work photos, would you do this?

I work in an estate agents and we have to have our photos on the website/on staff board in the office. Someone will be taking photos of our new staff next week. I’m really unhappy with mine. I’ve since lost 4 stone and I feel my photo doesn’t represent me now, in fact I feel unhappy every time I see it. I’m wondering if to ask for my photo to be updated, but I am worried this might appear vein? Would you?

I’d go for it - surely the point is that clients should be able to identify you (after all presumably you may be visiting them in their homes) but also the company would want their staff looking their best on the website.

We update all of ours every year. It means no one has to wait too long to get a new photo. I think it’s nice for customers to see what staff actually look like not some weird abstract photos from years ago that defeat the point because they’re unrecognisable for various reasons. So I think you’ve got a good case for a new photo.

I arrange these photography sessions at my work and have had people ask for a new photo due to weight loss lots of times. I ask the team generally if they would like an updated shot when we have the opportunity as we are paying for the photographers time anyway so definitely go for it!

Not a problem at all. The purpose of the photo is to represent you, so if it doesn’t currently represent you and the photographer is there anyway get it done.

As the photographer will be there, it's a good opportunity to get yours updated.

It happens all the time in my company.

I did this!! Lost 11st and was unrecognisable in the picture on my work security pass so sent in a new photo and asked for it to be updated. Wasn’t a problem- Security guy complimented me on my new look when he dropped up my new card 😂

Go for it, OP- life is too short to be unhappy about something that can very likely be fixed.

I would, I don’t think it’s vain at all. If they have the photographer in for the new staff it shouldn’t be any problem to organise an extra photo.
