AIBU to be annoyed when threads get taken down because the OP hasn't had the response they want?

Just that really, OP starts thread, loads of traffic, gets told YABU, doesn't like it.. thread gets taken down.
Waste of everyone's time.

I'm not talking about the threads where privacy has been infringed or it's been massively derailed by crazies, although in the latter case just disengaging is probably a better plan.
Just the ones where the OP has a strop because they haven't had unanimous agreement.

I saw an email notification this morning that someone had replied to my post on a thread from yesterday. I clicked through and the op has had the thread taken down. Absolutely it must’ve been a case of people not agreeing with her, I even aksed her that if she thinks she’s not at all being unreasonable why ask, amongst a couple of other, potentially blunt (but honest, and not rude) comments. But yes, it was pretty much unanimous when I posted yesterday, and I assume she just wasn’t happy about that! I wonder if it was one that you might be referring to as well (won’t ask outright as the whole taat thing).

It’s understandable when the OP is completely targeted though and the vipers are out. MN can be completely savage at times so I get why someone being told repeatedly they’re unreasonable for x and y but also then probably told they’re batshit, unhinged, need therapy etc… Probably gets a bit much.

Some people really do only use Mumsnet to piss on someone elses' cornflakes, though.
Before I create a new thread, I always try to consider the angles, knowing that someone is going to come wading in from the left field with some wild take and totally de-rail it.

Just this week I started a thread about favourite cinema snacks. It's right there in the title of the chat thread. Pretty safe, light-hearted, benign chit chat - but noooo, by response 7, the thread is overrun with people going on about how much they hate eating at the cinema and anyone who does so are animals. MN is just so abrasive these days and it's really grating. I wouldn't ask for my thread to be deleted, I just disengage. But yeah, if the thread is totally derailed and not reflective of the purpose it was created, get rid.

@Rachelshair mumsnet talk is a chatsite nobody owes you anything, if the Op is upset by their thread they are entitled to have it taken down.
