To have something sweet/ pudding every day after dinner?
kind of thought the majority did this but after talking to friends maybe not. So for example after dinner every night will have something sweet eg bar of chocolate, biscuits

Mince pies this week.

Mince pies? Fuck sake, its nowhere near Christmas!! Maniac! Where did you buy them? 🤫. 🤣

XigDoop · 10/09/2026 20:19

A chunk of Aldi choc with a cup of tea is nice.

shellyleppard · 10/09/2026 20:18

Majority of the time pudding is yoghurt and fruit. Occasionally i make a crumble with Sunday dinner 😁

Timeforachange26 · 10/09/2026 20:17

Very rarely but I don't have a sweet tooth

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePleaseBarista · 10/09/2026 20:17

I like something sweet but not every day and preferably with coffee in the daytime and usually about 2 or 3 times a week. I need to be very mindful of what I eat as gain weight easily.

QuizzlyBears · 10/09/2026 20:17

Only if I’m out for dinner or at my parent’s house.

Ilovemsrachel · 10/09/2026 20:15

We’ve had fresh strawberries after almost every dinner this summer, as they’ve been so good. With Greek yoghurt and honey - though I often just have the fruit.

I might occasionally have a bit of chocolate, but we don’t tend to keep it in the house.

Dessert only after Sunday roast or if entertaining.

Sugar is inflammatory - not eating it isn’t a cast iron guarantee that you won’t get ill but it’s a start . Honestly just admit you’re an addict if you’re highlight of the day is a bowl of something that is going to make you unwell. Once or twice a week perhaps but every night .. with children then learning this is the norm? No.

Reading this one would think you were talking about crack or something 😂

EmeraldShamrock000 · 10/09/2026 20:06

Not directly after dinner. I have something sweet every day.

FusionChefGeoff · 10/09/2026 20:04

We all tend to have something after but quite a bit later not as dessert just as something to snack.

Depends how hungry I am could be Greek yoghurt with fruit, granola, 2 biscuits, Orange clubs are going down well at the moment, 85% dark chocolate mostly

Dr13Hadley · 10/09/2026 20:02

I can quickly get into bad habits if I do. I tend to crave something sweet after dinner but try and hold off for half an hour and it usually goes away. If not I have some full fat Greek yogurt with a little bit of honey or 2-3 dates but not every night. There was a time I could eat 3-4 snickers bars after dinner but obviously needed to stop that! I’m not overweight but was gaining it when not controlling what I was eating. It was a comfort eating thing more than anything.

Hutinthemiddleofnowhere · 10/09/2026 20:02

Generally no but DC think it's an expected normality lol 😆

Bunny44 · 10/09/2026 19:59

My family, close friends and partner usually have something like fruit or yogurt, sometimes something like homemade crumble. They're all very health conscious and fit people who do a lot of exercise so maybe just get more hungry!

Iocanepowder · 10/09/2026 19:59

Never at home. Not for my weight and also don’t want to give the kids sugar before bed.

Happyjoe · 10/09/2026 19:59

Didn't have it growing up, only treats was a Sunday packet of choc digestives shared between 6!

But now I really hanker after something sweet to take the taste of dinner away. Not too keen on my own cooking, ha. If a small dinner, I may have a banana, or chocolate or one of those kids ice pop things.

Paddyshanks · 10/09/2026 19:59

OP try and remember this is mumsnet where, for some people, eating more than a salad is seen as gluttony and heaven forbid you drink more than a thimble full of sherry at Xmas!

What you said sounds perfectly normal to me!

Not normally although I did have a small bar of chocolate this evening.

KindlySurfiingPlatypus · 10/09/2026 19:28

Yes but I try to keep it really snall if it's just going to be a sugary treat - I love the tiny bite-sized icecream morsels - or if I'm actually still a bit hungry and it's been at least half an hour since dinner I'll have something a bit more satisfying like some dried apricots and a few nuts with a square of chocolate.

Cos it's MN I can't tell if this poster is serious or joking!

Pumpup · 10/09/2026 19:57

No we just do dinner and that’s it

TheTortiePuffinNeedsHerBreakfast · 10/09/2026 19:57

I used to enjoy doing this but since reaching my 50s I've had to stop to keep my weight under control

Bzr · 10/09/2026 19:56

Never. I don’t have a sweet tooth. I can’t recall the last biscuit sweet or chocolate I ate

Gengha · 10/09/2026 19:56

My husband usually does, I generally do not

Avie29 · 10/09/2026 19:55

I think it depends on the dinner, if i have had something quite salty -like fry up -i will crave something sweet but generally no its not a routine here.

Escapetothecatshome · 10/09/2026 19:53

No, I used to love a dessert especially if I was watching the bake off but I just can’t handle sugar anymore it gives me terrible headaches. So sweet puddings are now reserved for Christmas and possibly birthdays but then I usually save it for the following day after lunch.
