AIBU to expect air freshener in toilets when visiting friends?

Is there an expectation that people's toilets should have an air freshener in? Like a spray air freshener?

We always have air freshener in both our toilets in case friends or family get caught short when visiting us or even to freshen the bathroom after having a wee if necessary, so I hate it if I go to a friend/family members house and they have none.

I get some people may be affected by asthma but surely if you had asthma you wouldn't use it?

We have a glade air freshener at work that sprays into the space where the wash handbasins are for example.

Theres this tiktokker who i love and think is amazing, but she refuses to have a toilet brush! I'm like, what if someone (usually a man) has no choice but to poop in your toilet and finds he cant clean it?! 😩😩😩

Hate toilet brushes, hideous things.
Bleach and toilet paper - flush then job done.

We had one of those automatic puffer things in the loos where I worked before we all complained. Bloody thing always squirted just as I walked past 🤢🤮 (no, I hadn't had a dump !)

She said after a wee!! I think I’d go and see the doctor if I was the OP if I had to spray aerosols to mask the smell of that!! Absolutely bonkers!!

I am glad to see so many others with reactions to airfreshener. The joint misery makes me feel less like a weirdo. I get sinusitis.... Took me a while to figure out what was the cause!

I genuinely dont understand how making a shit smell, smell sweetly sick is anyway better. Just open a window, or wait til you get home. Air fresheners are ao disgusting.

We have the air wick room spray, comes out as water droplets so you don’t get that spray smell. I was going to say yabu but it’s not fair if someone is caught out to not give them options!

Actually, thinking about it, I don't think any of my friends or family have air fresheners in their bathrooms either.

You're weird. I'm allergic to them, so I don't want them being sprayed in my house. I do have a reed diffuser and the window is always open.

I have never in my life bought air-freshener for any room in my house. All our bathrooms have windows for fresh air. Even if we had a windowless bathroom, I still wouldn't use air-freshener.

I have a reed diffuser and a gel thing in the toilet but no artificial sprays. I'd be sneezing all day.

It wouldn't ever occur to me.
I'm vegan which may make a difference but honestly other than the odd occasion where I've maybe been on holiday and eaten a lot of foods I wouldn't usually, you could go in the bathroom straight after I'd been for a number 2 and not smell anything.

Do you have bowel issues and/or a rubbish diet in your family? I'd understand why you'd have air freshener if so. But to expect others to always follow suit is unrealistic.

No, I don't want to be exposed to toxic air freshener chemicals. What's wrong with opening the bathroom window? (Obviously doesn't apply if you don"t havea bathroom window but presumably then you have an extractor fan?).

I don’t have air freshener but there’s a reed diffuser and poo pourri spray! I also have a toilet brush, a bin and toilet cleaner
