AIBU to expect air freshener in toilets when visiting friends?

YABU, they don't mask the smell they just add an awful, cloying artificial scent over the top of the poo scent. Crack a window and get some fresh air instead. I don't think I've ever bought air freshener.

Another asthmatic here, aerosols are a trigger. We have a window, automatic extractor fan, ecover toilet cleaner/brush and tea tree oil (if you sprinkle a few drops in the loo it cuts through any smell).

Same here - two bathrooms, neither have a window (both have extractor fans though). No air fresheners!

Many people dislike artificial air Freshers. Your expectation about other people's homes is unreasonable and a little bit strange

I do have one of those room fresheners that spray every few minutes in my toilet but only because my cat litter tray is in there, I don’t have any in my other bathrooms, to be fair i probably wouldn’t even notice if there was an air freshener in anyone else’s toilet

No we don’t have them because you are literally spraying chemical into your body. Why should anyone be embarrassed about smells it’s normal. Open the window

I think they are the most disgusting and unhygienic things ever.

If there is a skid, someone can use toilet paper to wipe off their own shit from the bowl (or aim better).

Lift the seat, of course. What do you mean by 'clean the bacteria'. Kill it? You're not drinking it, there will be some bacteria around. The bathroom is not an operating theatre.

You can get things that fizz and foam up. Like a bath bomb for a toilet. We have them, do still have a loo brush though!

They are not brilliant for people to inhale either. We don’t have one but we do have a window that anyone is welcome to open should they think it necessary.

Do you ever go out in the rain and become utterly astonished when you get wet? Why would anybody be surprised to go into a toilet and find that it smells like a toilet?

If the possibility of encountering a bit of a lingerer in the air bothers people so much, send your butler in first with an industrial hoover.

My asthma is triggered by strong sprays like air freshers. The smell isn’t contained within the bathroom.

Even if I don’t use it, if other people do it still triggers my asthma.

Much rather people open the window, shut the loo lid and close the bathroom door.

We have air fresher. Thought everyone would. Who wants a shitty smell in the bathroom or toilet . It's kind of nice for the next person not to go in when there's a smell.

Nothing nicer than hearing someone liberally spray air freshener around thus announcing they have done a rancid shit, then opening the door to the fruity aroma of artificial flowers and pine mixed with faeces. Just give me the shit without the fanfare and without the chemical flowers, it’s all gross. Or stock VIPoo instead. It’s the only thing that actually works (or one of the various alternatives).

What am I reading? Why would it be a problem if someone pooed in your loo ? It's what a loo is for. A loo is definitely my place of choice to do a poo.

As for toilet brushes, imo they're nasty and unhygienic imo. I clean the loo with my hand and a tissue/cleaning fluid.

I can only assume that the people who firmly believe powerful artificial smells to be the solution to natural noxious niffs have never walked within half a mile of the entrance to a Lush shop.
