Completely unreasonable things that really piss you off when you’re driving

oh yes, I'm fine with people leaving a decent gap. I leave what I consider a decent gap myself.

I just don't understand why, having left "a decent gap" they then pull forwards by 3-6 feet the moment I've put my handbrake on

Yes, I like to see a bit of tarmac between me and the vehicle in front.

A 'decent gap' is fine. Just not two or three car lengths. It's just so they can rev up and move super fast as far as I can see. Also, when , on a dual lane bridge - as we have near us, people overtake the car in front like idiots to....have to stop at traffic lights anyway. It probably gets them, ooo, three feet further forward for a couple of minutes

Depends on what you consider a "decent" gap. Clearly a full car length or more is unreasonable. General advice is 5-6 feet which is enough to use full wheel lock to move past it if needed - which equates on average to stopping where you can still see the back wheels touching the tarmac. Any more is unnecessarily too much, any less, you're going to be stuck.

I always, always leave a decent gap between myself and the car in front when stopped.
It means you can get away in an emergency and not be trapped, also you have room to manouvre if emergency vehicles need to pass. If it annoys people, tough shit.

x100 if, by leaving these huge gaps, it's causing knock on effects. Eg, near us, there's a slightly odd traffic light t-junction. If you're turning right, the actual turn is slightly further forward as the t junction is curved. If you're turning left, the left turn is first AND, importantly, because of the way the traffic lights work, cars turn left for longer because they can continue to turn left while cars on the other road are turning right.

It's a single lane road but, becuase of th eabove, near the turn itself, it widens ot two lanes. And there's that widening process.

But cars going right do not like to get closer to cars in front. so the cars trying to turn left can't squeeze through.

There's nothing illegal about any of the above but it drives me mad. Just pull forward and/or stick far enough to the RIGHT if youo're going right, and a LOT more cars could turn left. ARGH.

I'd ban stupid long and extendable dog leads, usually used by people who don't give a toss that their dog is about to trip me up, and even worse those with over excitable dogs on stupid long/extendable leads that manage to wrap themselves around my legs! Just make the sodding things illegal. Or at the very least make owners legally responsible for actually watching what their dog is doing and controlling it rather than being lost staring at their phone or chatting to someone else, totally oblivious to the chaos their out of control dog is causing behind them!

I could commit murder when I’m in the outside lane of two at red traffic lights wanting to go straight on and the car in front of me waits until the lights go green to indicate that they’re turning right. I fantasise about being in possession of a machine gun.

Angry people doing anything/anywhere is a bad thing. Angry pedestrians, shoppers and cyclists can also do stupid/dangerous things. Far better to help people not get angry in the first place, i.e. deal with all the irritations.

My pet hates - when turning right, you’re supposed to position your car so that other drivers can pass on your left. However, many drivers just stop in the middle of the lane waiting to turn thereby holding up all of the traffic behind them

THIS !!!! Gives me the absolute rage!

We have a crossroads in our village. It has sign on approach saying "right turners give way to oncoming traffic"... you know, the logical and legal thing that hapens at crossroads throught the UK.

There is enough idiots that make thus sign necessary as they cannot see the cars emerging from the road directly ahead of them on their own green light.

Although if people don't let me out of a side road in a 30mph zone and continue along the main road, this can (unreasonably, I admit) enrage me. I stare menacingly at the drivers for not being polite enough to stop and let me out. Obviously in those situations I also have an issue with the Highway Code. This doesn't apply when it's me on the main road not letting people in off side roads as its one rule for me and one rule for everyone else

I have secondhand rage for you. During the school run as well! It's already so stressful.

Where I live there some crossroads. One of roads if you want to go straight ahead, you go on the right hand lane. The left lane is for turning left only and has its on filter on the traffic lights. One day I counted 6 cars going straight on a left lane and those wanting to turn right from the opposite side had to weave through the traffic.

If there was an accident, it would have gridlocked most of the area

People who lurk near zebra crossings so you don't know if they'll jump out at the last minute.

It's not unreasonable at all but people who are fully on their phone whilst driving gives me the RAGE. At least pretend to concentrate on where you're shoving over a tonne of metal...

I agree, advanced motorists are taught to stop so they can still see the road under the back wheels of the car in front which gives just enough room to pull out on full wheel lock if the car in front doesn’t move, ie stalls or breaks down etc. That’s usually something like 4/5 feet, not two sodding car lengths!

Yes I know that, but simple answer is to wait yourself a few seconds more until there’s no cars in either lane so you can go straight into the right hand lane like the car behind you would have done if you’d have gone a few seconds earlier. Obviously only if your certain you have to overtake straight away, ie you’ve been waiting for a slow moving vehicle to pass.

I'm getting ragey just thinking about this, but people who leave huge unnecessary gaps between them and the car in front when there's a traffic jam, or just a wait for lights to turn green. It means the traffic is backed up even more. The spaces don't need to be big enough so two fucking cars could easily fit into them. It's completely ridiculous
