AIBU to think many people of the UK lack confidence in the current government?

AIBU to think that the majority of people in the UK don't have any confidence in the current government, with an unelected Prime Minister at its' helm?

Would people be willing to vote on a petition to have a parliamentary debate on this matter, to encourage this government to have a snap General Election? This would give the people - the tax payers - as say in who is running the country. Democracy in action, if you will.

AIBU - people are happy with Labour and the unelected PM

YANBU - people have a democratic right to vote for who they want to run the country and right now, the majority don't have confidence in the current government.

You know I'm well up for that. I'd not spend so much time on here and chat to you like i do if that bothered me. We should never be afraid of hearing things that don't fit our own world view. It's how we grow. Also how we get a sense of what our fellow citizens feel, because whether we agree or not, they have as much say over our destinies as we do given we all get a vote, so its good to know.

I'll be generous and assume you don't luve in the UK which is why you don't understand our electoral process.

We elect a local MP to represent our area.
MPs choose a leader of their group or party.
The biggest party/coalition forms a government and the leader becomes PM.

It's actually quite simple.

It's easy to understand your confusion when the likes of Reform announce that they are putting unelected people into ministerial jobs.

Like or dislike Burnham being leader, he was elected and to suggest otherwise is disingenuous.

Because we wanted Burnham instead. And at the moment it's the turn of some people who aren't you to be getting what they want. Nothing you can do about that at the moment so you might as well relax and stop winding yourself up.

Because they're actually reducing the number of people coming in on small boats, dealing with the backlog of asylum processing, reducing immigration overall and oh, doing some sterling work standing up to Donald Trump and the Israeli government, on workers' rights, on renters' rights - the list is long. Now you may not like those things, but they are real and happening and many people do like tht#em.

I don’t think there’s much point trying facts with this one. They’re just too far gone. I’m out as its getting boring.

It clearly is democratic, because under UK democratic processes it is a legitimate thing to do. You don't have to like it - I don't much like it either. But Starmer had to go.

ETA intra party backstabbing and shenanigans have always been part of British politics. Why does it only bother you when the party you don't like does it? I'd call that hypocrisy.

Other than that I have to commend the ingenuity of the purveyors of these faux-naif posts about how awful Labour is. It's telling that there are so many more of them now that Labour have overtaken Reform in the polls, but the variety of angles seems neverending.
