AIBU to think many people of the UK lack confidence in the current government?

AIBU to think that the majority of people in the UK don't have any confidence in the current government, with an unelected Prime Minister at its' helm?

Would people be willing to vote on a petition to have a parliamentary debate on this matter, to encourage this government to have a snap General Election? This would give the people - the tax payers - as say in who is running the country. Democracy in action, if you will.

AIBU - people are happy with Labour and the unelected PM

YANBU - people have a democratic right to vote for who they want to run the country and right now, the majority don't have confidence in the current government.

No they are not. Boat numbers are reducing. But boat sizes are increasing. numbers on each boat has increased. Lab lying with stats. Shame they won't publish the immigrant sex crime stats.

It's not boats that are being counted, FFS. It's the number of people arriving on boats that has reduced by 42%
Boat size is entirely irrelevant to the statistics.

Clearly you haven't looked at the figures as I have:

Highest inward migration under Blair was 596k in 2006. Brown wasn't any higher. By 2018 (so before the Boriswave), the Tories had let rip and it reached 825k. It peaked at 1441k in 2023.

I remember the Tories promising to bring net migration "down to the tens of thousands". In 2022 net migration it hit 891k. The highest it got to under Labour was 245k in 2004.

You'd have to ask the people who personally disliked him and thought he was doing a bad job that. As luck would have it, there's at least two on your thread right now.
I explained that the main driver for Labour replacing him was his unpopularity with the electorate. Whether 'Labour' agreed with the public view or not I couldn't say, because there isn't a hive mind. Some will have disliked him and thought he should go. Others will have been ambivalent or liked him and still thought he should go, for the reasons I've explained.

Trouble was that it turns out that the best people at politics are politicians. Starmer (a lawyer) was hopeless at communicating with the public and managing the press. And two points on the leaflets:

  1. The leaflets do not crudely say 'Do not rape'. They explain what consent is to men from cultures where it may not be a given. Saying 'Do not rape' would be meaningless without an understanding of consent.
  2. As you have pointed out yourself, @CoventryCity, the data shows higher rates of sexual assault and rape by immigrant men than by British men. Given this, would you prefer the government to be supine and take no steps at all to address the issues involved?

Oh dear. There have been hundreds of comments on this predictable but what about our own nigel rapists. There's a whole thread with such comments, with suitable responses. Take a look. It's linked above.

PS. Crying racism, or alluding to it, doesn't work anymore. It only discredits you I'm afraid. try harder

Incidently, I've gone right off John Healy. @5128gap I thought I respected him, remember us talking about it before? He's turning into a bit of a weasel on defence. 2035 increased defence budget is worrying as well. That's a long way off. What do you think?

Absolutely. Do you think allowing, to all intents and purposes, unfettered immigration helps? 20 million in 30 years and always rising, does affect our services and qol somewhat. And then we have the issue you mention - less tax going into the big bucket, as fewer high tax payers. We have more going out than coming in. Labour have made it much worse, and are continuing to do so. On top of which women and girls in the UK now have an increased safety risk compared to living in the UK , than we had 20 years ago. If we had the facts from Labour - on sex crimes by immigrants / asylum seekers, we could prove that. But they are blocking us receiving that information. It's a puzzle.

I used to be quite interested in politics

Sorry to say that I've generally lost respect for politicians due to -

(1) lockdown parties during covid aka one rule for us, one for the public

(2) politicians not having confidence to say that transwomen are biological males and shouldnt be in female spaces

Right now, I'm politically homeless

Why do you keep repeating the same untrue statement, almost like you have it on a copy and paste ready?

Repeating something untrue over and over, doesn't actually make it magically become true.
