He's great

And there isnt any 'gossip' to come out about him, everything known about him is already known, he had lots and lots of affairs while his loyal wife sat at home for him and very sadly passed away. He was devastated by it, it was recent (although recent for me could be in the last decade)

I'm sorry - have I misunderstood? Are you genuinely saying 'he had lots and lots of affairs' and 'he'a not vile?' I wonder what someone has to do to be vile in your book.

And are we also expected to believe that all those affairs he had in the 80s were with adult women and there wasn't a hint of coercion involved?

I have lot of adjectives about him, untrustworthy, a let down, a failure as a husband and father, immoral, disappointing

I work with people who are genuinely vile, you get spat at, kicked, punched, go in their dirty filthy homes and manage to tread in dog shit in their own homes, they're high on drugs or drunk, they smell, got no teeth, their kids are all in care, they're recidivists, they'll happily put nails in your car tyres so you are in danger when you leave (this has happened to me several times), they abuse and neglect their animals, they make their neighbours lives a misery, I could go on. Thats vile.

Trouble is on this forum, people dont seem to understand degrees of anything.

I was in the audience of The Voice a couple of years ago, and even then he had to be assisted to his seat, generally didn't seem to know what was going on most of the time, and I kind of felt sorry for this old man who would really have been more comfortable anywhere else. I'm not surprised there's an insurance risk, he didn't seem fit to be in the environment, let alone part of the show.

TV is dead as a format. There's no money in Channel 4 just made 300 people redundant. There is no money to pay people like him.

Its a shame though because his voice hasnt gone, it normally does as you age, he has been very lucky there.

If he’s going to drop dead he’s going to drop dead. That doesn’t affect the workplace insurance.

It must do, imagine you are halfway through the series and filming and one of the main stars drops dead, you either carry on and your ad revenue isnt going to be as high because people may not watch the episodes without the person and therefore your funding and investment is less , or you dont carry on and therefore the series is shelved

And the risk is surely higher for someone of 86 than 56.

He had multiple affairs all through his marriage . He married his wife when they were both 16 so she was his age. When he had affairs they were with much younger women.

Well, I've learned something from this thread. 'Spill the tea' appears to mean much the same as 'What's new, Pussycat?'

He’d have Key Man insurance against him (or would have done in the past). If he became unavailable due to ill health and production had to be halted, insurance pays out for studio costs, extending contracts, paying for a replacement (and associated costs of stylist, wardrobe etc). The older your Talent, the more likely this is to happen. Insurance companies might have refused to insure him and therefore the production is at risk. ITV / the production company clearly don’t want to take on that financial risk.

I've always been amazed that Clint Eastwood was able to get insurance to carry on making films as long as he did. It was only confirmed this year that he has now retired, and he's 96. His last film came out two years ago.

I agree with the PP who said he’s 86 - time to retire & let someone else have a chance. Personally, I’ve never watched the Voice but I would if Cheryl was on it!
