To expect no blood on the bedsheets?

Just about to get in bed in a holiday rental, and there are drops of red blood (only drops) on the bedding - It doesn't look the brownish colour after washing, but even if it did - is it unreasonable to think that a holiday rental bedding should be blood free

I have contacted the host but honestly I just want to cry - I don't want to sleep in the bed but I am so bloody tired.

They are only drops/spots but six of them.

Bed bugs look like tiny brownish red dots

Have previously stayed at a very high end resort in Greece where I also found blood on the side of the bed sheet. So it really can happen.

Hope you can get some rest OP.

Is there something above the bed dripping blood onto it?

Fullofpudding · Today 00:45

Blood turns brown pretty quickly so have the sheets just been put on. Usually only takes an hour or so.

Dont sleep in the bed without checking for bed bugs. They can cause the small red drops of blood.

I really hope you get good sleep tonight despite this. I would be furious with the holiday rental about this

Is there a sofa you could sleep on for tonight?

Not a full sized one - but I think I will have to make do.

I needed this break and especially the sleep, .

Are you sure you don’t have a cut and are bleeding on the bedding yourself as you inspect it?

Edited

Definitely not. I just came up to bed and pulled the sheet and saw the blood. Have now video checking all of it and it is clear as I pull it out from where it has been tucked in that there is blood - I am now worried about bed bugs although the sheet looks ok.

I don't know what to do.

It doesn't smell like fresh laundry but maybe they used perfumed stuff.

I've now looked at more of it and there are loads more blood spots, I don't know if they are fresher or washed.

It is two rooms but the other room has someone asleep in it - I will have to check tomorrow as they wouldn't be able to see anything like that.

Honestly I feel like crying - bottom sheet doesn't have blood so hopefully not bed bugs but who knows

Could be bed bugs that were squished.

Jellycatspyjamas · Yesterday 23:25

if it’s fresh looking the cleaner might have cut herself and not noticed. I’d contact and ask for the bed to be changed.

RosesAndHellebores · Yesterday 23:24

If it were red, it would be fresh.
Are you saying it is dried blood and the sheets haven't been washed; or they have been washed but blood stains remain.

If the former, that's disgusting and pro-tem, I'd turn the sheet, tomorrow I'd buy a clean one.

If the latter, that's exceptionally poor housekeeping.

If you thought they’d been washed would you be ok with it? I’d be SO surprised if the bedding hadn’t been washed but obviously it’s possible the blood spots haven’t come out.

our laundry (at our holiday let) gets washed at a laundry every changeover, very occasionally some marks don’t come out. I would expect the cleaner to notice but it sounds minor so perhaps they just missed it? Does it smell fresh?
