Masked men at Dover - KKK vibes

MumofCandR · Yesterday 11:53

They are utter cowards and hypocritical. The same ilk will state they're against the burkha and protests by environmental groups etc. but are happy to mask their faces in 'protest' the reality is they're just nasty specimens of humanity, full of people with self righteous white supremacy tendencies. AIBU.

Anyway. Try not to let the media whip you up so much op. You'll make yourself ill if you carry on thinking peaceful protestors are like the KKK and will burn everyone's homes. Do you get out much? Flowers.

What a witty response - your wit knows no bounds 😂.

And as a black British woman with mixed race daughters and a son, I would not feel comfortable being in the street, or a train carriage, with silent, balaclava clad men, or knowing my children were. And if you think my comfort matters less than yours, I’d consider you a white supremacist.

Then you would be very wrong, but you are extremely racist

Why were they protesting at Dover's port? Do they have something against hauliers, or people off to Brittany on their hols? Why did they all feel the need to wear head to toe black, and ski masks? It's almost as if they were told to wear the get up to look intimidating, otherwise surely most of them would have been in trackies, jeans or shorts and t-shirts.

They clearly don't want to be identified by trolls/nutters who will incorrectly label them 'far right' or'KKK' and try to destroy their lives. Why not Dover? People protest anywhere it doesn't have to be in the exact spot that dinghies arrive y'know.

Stop with the white supremacy bullshit.
As a white woman id feel a million times safer walking alongside with these protesting uk men with their faces covered, than those coming into the country illegally, with no documentation after fleeing their own countries, fearing for their lives, mostly because they are wanted, serious criminals themselves.

Serious criminals who can’t just fly in on private jet??

But what does it actually mean though? I bet the 59% of people think a thousand different things. What could they do, how could they do it, and do we have the right kit and personnel to do it? I have no idea. Military intervention is barely more useful a phrase than stop the boats.

Well they built the nightingale hospitals without a single shot being fired as far as I'm aware. Perhaps they would build some electronic warning system in the channel or a huge net across the dividing line. Who knows? Luckily I'm not in charge of thinking of something. The important thing is that the military seems to be wheeled out when the apparatus of civilian government is failing. Which it clearly is. As the military do a proper effective job.

Thank you for your response -
the Ukraine response is interesting -
my thoughts are that we saw on the media whole families and even their pets on the move and seeking safety - this was more distressing and relatable

with the small boats we see swaths of men - that never feels good (Reaction to Dover protest included)

Ukraine was a Europe problem -
that feels more of an ‘us’ problem

the small boats carrying the economic migrant men from eastern Europe are hard to empathise with - the UK can’t compensate for Eastern European economic difficulties-
and the men from Afghanistan, Syria, Iran etc it seems nonsensical that they don’t seek refuge in the multiple countries that they pass through on the way to UK,

It’s all mega divide and rule distraction from the very wealthy extracting wealth and asset stripping out countries ….in old folk homes profits, sewage in every river but 100 of millions of profits extracted to share holders and more. It’s a ‘look over here, be afraid’ distraction. I live by a migrant dispersal centre and see nothing but contribution and participation ..vibrant interesting additions to our society.

Unless we have gone mad as a society and claim we don’t have home grown vile rapists and murderers too?

Yes the majority

No we wouldn't.
Obviously not all people who are anti the small boat crossings are white supremacists.
But it's a safe enough bet that all white supremacists are anti the small boat crossings, and that they would be highly likely to be amongst the protesters.
These men were masked so we don't know who they are, what they believe or how far they'd go. We've already seen people setting fire to buildings housing immigrants and hurling missiles at homes with children inside.
There are some highly dangerous men who are 'anti small boat crossings' and i can't fathom why you'd want to pretend that they and ordinary people concerned about immigration are one and the same just because they both want to stop the boats.

I take your point that racists WILL be anti boats
and that not all anti boats people are racists
thanks

I know! We had a pp saying the peaceful protestors were dressed up as the SS. So weve had the op's excitable it's like the KKK! then the SS what next?! Hitler himself perhaps.

Who knew a few people quietly and calmly protesting could rattle some so much.

Why were they protesting at Dover's port? Do they have something against hauliers, or people off to Brittany on their hols? Why did they all feel the need to wear head to toe black, and ski masks? Daniel Thomas has quite the background.

Thomas – who goes by the name Danny Tommo – was handed a two-year sentence in 2016 for an attempted kidnap after targeting the wrong man. He and two others arrived at the victim’s home in Hampshire armed with knives. Portsmouth Crown Court heard how they punched him, pinned him against a wall, grabbed and pulled his T-shirt, trying to force him from his home. But their victim resisted, clinging to the door frame. The bungling perpetrators fled in a car, shouting: “We’ll be back.” However, realising they had got the wrong person, one of the trio later sent the victim a Facebook message apologising.
Meanwhile, Thomas was said to have made inflammatory comments online in the wake of last year’s attack on a children’s dance class in Southport. Hope Not Hate (HNH) says on its website: “Daniel Thomas (AKA Danny Tommo), Tommy Robinson’s associate... shared a video in the hours after the Southport attack claiming that ‘we need to do something very extreme’ and ‘every city needs to go up’. Two days later, Thomas would lead a demonstration at Whitehall at which more than 100 people would be arrested.

I'm hoping so too because I can't believe someone really thought Antifa were literally anti fascists.

The word comes from the German antifaschistisch and refers to a decentralised movement of left-wing, anarchist, and socialist individuals.
Adherents focus on tracking, protesting, and countering groups they identify as fascist, neo-Nazi, or racist.

Am I completely missing the joke here, but that is my understanding of Antifa?

I’d be more inclined to believe that the majority of those protesters were raised under a similar environment as I was, and much more likely to also share similar views, morals and values.

Of course, that assumption isn’t infallible, but I’d still hedge my bets that it’s closer to the truth than not.

Based on what we know about men who participate in this type of activity, around half or more of these men will have convictions for domestic abuse. They are following a man who was convicted for an armed kidnap in which he and two others grabbed the wrong man, and who was arrested earlier this year for filming parts of Dover port which are restricted from the public because of national
security.

If these are values you share, then god help you.

Yes because it’s about tiny numbers of people fleeing problems we the UK and others have started in their home countries. The people making these protests when interviewed make white supremacist statements and can’t explain why Ukrainian refugees are different

Tiny numbers Grin.

I don’t understand the fear? Native people have every advantage to do well…why so afraid ? Where are the anti war, anti interference across the world that CREATES refugees protests??

Oh yes that would be the Pro Palestine (Syria, Lebanon, Congo, Sudan) marches

What we are witnessing is inadequate people who can’t compete, in their own language and jobs market..who need to feel better than other people
