Masked men at Dover - KKK vibes

They are utter cowards and hypocritical. The same ilk will state they're against the burkha and protests by environmental groups etc. but are happy to mask their faces in 'protest' the reality is they're just nasty specimens of humanity, full of people with self righteous white supremacy tendencies. AIBU.

Except pro-Palestine protestors have been rounded up and left to rot in prison until the government is able to do away with juries because they haven’t actually committed any crime. Yesterday’s lot sauntered off home in time for the 3pm kick offs.

Are you talking about those aligning with Palestine Action Group, who have been warned about consequences?

Littlemisssunshine1982 · Yesterday 15:58

And what about all the ones turning up in masks at the left’s protest?

WouldYouLikeAnyToast · Yesterday 15:58

YANBU - they're "peacefully protesting" 🙄
No, they're not - they're intimidating. To say they're all about "protecting women and children" I find people like them a lot more threatening than migrants who are in the main just normal people going about minding their own business.

But again, we live in a country governed by the rule of law. Yes, you have the right to protest. For example, heckling a politician at a party conference is well within your rights of free speech. But if you are planning a march or mass gathering, you need to notify the police so they are able to properly allocate resources for your and the public’s safety and you cannot block national infrastructure. Whether you are left or right wing - that’s the law of this land, and there have been, for example, climate activists sent to jail for breaking it.

Even Reform have condemned these men at Dover, so I’m surprised to see anyone defending their behaviour.

My issue is with the KKK similarity. It's the usual selectively chosen hyperbole.

Absolutely. Which is why I cannot fathom why no arrests were made.

The pro Palestine protesters have shown them the way.

Was there public disorder or not?

Why were they there?

LuckyHazelFox · Yesterday 15:56

WinterGold · Yesterday 15:56

Not necessarily balaclavas, but certainly plenty of keffiyahs pulled up to obscure their faces and serve the same purpose.

Absolutely, that poster is in denial.

ClaudettedeBeauvoir · Yesterday 15:56

dustabsorber · Yesterday 14:40

At least they're protesting about something that is happening in the UK and not something that is happening in the Middle East. The majority of UK citizens want the boats stopping.

Unfortunately a majority of voters (probably mostly those more likely to support Reform/Restore) voted for the exact conditions which were the catalyst for the small boat trafficking - Brexit.

hattie43 · Yesterday 15:56

A result of successive governments ignoring people .

WinterGold · Yesterday 15:56

MissyB1 · Yesterday 15:07

Bollocks! I havent seen pro palestine demonstrators with balaclavas on. When the police are busy arresting 70 year old women who are sat on the pavement holding a piece of cardboard those women are definitely not hiding their faces - probably because they aren't cowards.

Those thugs in Dover dont dare show their faces - how very brave of them 🙄🙄

Not necessarily balaclavas, but certainly plenty of keffiyahs pulled up to obscure their faces and serve the same purpose.

My next door neighbour went and he is an accountant, one of his brothers is an orthopaedic surgeon and the other is a physicist.

Aye, right 😁

What happened to free speech that's currently being discussed on the Reform conference thread? It's make it up as you go along with freedom of assembly as well. Nobody was listening to Jews when they were threatened by the violent Palestinian marchers. As for the KKK reference, oh please.

The sight of them made my sad heart soar.

At last, England roars.

FFS. England roars? What a load of codswallop.

The blokes at Dover yesterday managed to disrupt hauliers and tourists. I doubt they had one iota of impact on any illegal immigrants. They seem to get off on intimidation, and yes, they give off Blackshirt vibes. I don't think anyone hiding behind a mask to protest, whether they be pro Palestine or anti- immigration has the courage of their convictions. They're the type who enjoy a bit of thuggery.

TheWordWomanIsTaken · Yesterday 15:55

MumofCandR · Yesterday 14:35

Freedom to protest is absolutely sacrosanct - covering faces with balaclavas is not protesting it's thuggery. Every protest in the last few years has not had that, that's a statement not based on fact. Your post has a tone of cynical whataboutery.

You clearly haven't been up to London much in the last few years...

Hardly. You do know that they weren’t all white men don’t you? My next door neighbour went with his brothers and they are Nigerian. Born in Nigeria by the way. He moved here in his early 20s. He has the St George’s flag flying on a flagpole in his back garden.

Most Nigerians I know are unhappy about the colonial past but only discuss a view if someone else brings it up, and unhappy about the modern day oil companies pillaging their country, they probably wouldn"t fly English/British flags in their garden, they believe that having the legal visas and being willing to work legitimise them being here without over-identification with the country they have moved to, not sure they would bother to protest a fringe problem such as boats arriving illegally TBH, I"m Scottish but don"t feel the need to fly flags and play Braveheart music very often.

This. People are generally very concerned about the continuing numbers of unvetted, young men coming from various countries where their cultural “values” are so different to ours.

these people are unskilled, uneducated and are very likely to be net takers from a UK that is already massively struggling financially. Servicing the UK debt is costing more than defence I believe! We simply cannot afford to accommodate all these people and there is the added danger from these men who have no understanding of consent it seems.

I’ve been saying for ages that I fear we will see increasing civil unrest and more right wing extremism. I really feel for the hard working migrant families that have made a life here who may now be targeted because of the problems caused by the small boat influx.

But of course, voicing these concerns makes me racist and no government seems willing or able to really tackle the influx.

Edited

Agree!

I was confused when I first saw the photos of the Dover protests because they were dressed like the self-styled Antifa thugs who have been wearing black bloc for years - first in the US and then copied by European TRAs.

So now the Far Left and the Far Right both dress in black and mask up.

I loathe it. The tactic is cowardly and designed to intimidate.

I have been going on demos and protests for 40 years. I have never covered my face. I have always believed in the cause I have supported and have been willing to engage in conversation both with the police and with people on the other side of an issue. I have never felt the need to hide my face or my beliefs.

I support the right to peaceful protest but would like to see this kind of behaviour (wearing masks and balaclavas) banned in public other than face masks for medical reasons (and those are totally different as they show so much more of the face).

😂😂😂. So fcking what? Doesn't stop them from being clowns 🤡

TalkToTheHand123 · Yesterday 15:47

Due to the far left extremism in the country, it is understandable for the protestors of the uncrontrolled criminal immigrants to wear masks.

Seemingly a perfect description of yesterday's comedy troupe of easily-led idiots in black 🤡

It does feel very threatening and I would feel very uncomfortable being anywhere near them. Religious reasons apart, people only cover their faces and heads when they do not wish to be identified, presumably because know they are doing, or will be tempted to do, something illegal and ominous. I find all this far right behaviour very disturbing.

How many arrests were made at the protest, sounds terrifying.

Having an opinion on world affairs is absolutely legitimate-
but saying people who are protesting for an issue in their community are thick is a stretch too far, when the issue does not impact you -

Why? In case it hurts their feelings?
I remember when QAnon protested against Covid rules in America.
I didn't affect me but I was happy to say they were thick as bricks.
And I still am.
