They are utter cowards and hypocritical. The same ilk will state they're against the burkha and protests by environmental groups etc. but are happy to mask their faces in 'protest' the reality is they're just nasty specimens of humanity, full of people with self righteous white supremacy tendencies. AIBU.

Apparently 140-160 people were picked up on a super sized dinghy today after they were picked up in the English Channel and brought into Portsmouth. Which kind of ruins the lates government data after reporting no landings for a week..

i think Putin is waiting until Europe is in the grip of a civil war over this issue and then he will act. We are playing straight into his hands.

LOL, he is one or two power station/oil refinery direct hits away from civil disorder in his own country.

Everyone who doesn't agree with your party line is a racist and/or fascist. It's boring now.

Its obviously unreasonably to smear a group of people whom you dont know, the comparison with the KKK is particularly obscene. Where do you get off with that?

What connection a protest over ongoing state failures has with a racist supremacist group, I don't know?

I do not particularly like masks myself, its not very british, but masked faces are something introduced to Britain by far left thugs and misogynist alien cultures. In the climate of 2 tier policing, who can blame others for adopting it?

If the state wont police the borders properly, then let the people do it.

The situation of toleration of 10s of 1000s of unvetted, anonymous migrant men coming here every year is a political choice. But its not something people ever voted for, so this outcome is wholly predictable.

The government being unable to solve an extremely difficult problem (despite reducing it by 40%) does not make it wholly predictable that a group of balaclava clad vigilantes take to the streets with no actual practical solutions other than to shout 'stop the boats' as if the government hadn't perhaps already thought of that.

“Let the people do it”. What? Summary justice for anyone any random balaclaved thug doesn’t like the look of? That’s not the way we do things here in Britain. If you don’t like living with our laws then leave. I’ve heard St Petersburg is nice this time of year.

That's not what I said. I said that he is racist because what he tweeted was racist.

The man is an out and out racist. His tweet the other day about the Labour candidate being born abroad was clear as day racism. And I'm like 'Mate! Not only is it racist, but all the racists it appeals to also hate you!'

Yusuf is not a fascist he's a realist. He can also out debate many who have tried to take him on.

There are many things I don't get about the AfD, but perhaps the biggest is that their leader is a gay woman. Honestly if they get into power how long would it be before she was out the door. Like Zia Yusuf here, I honestly don't get how people from persecuted minorities think that they'll be safe from the Fascists by being senior in their parties.

Our human rights do not come from the ECHR ultimately. They come from laws made by the UK parliament. As mentioned, international law is an illusion.

The only people it's not an illusion for are the very people we don't want to be seeking redress!

If the hard right party wins control of Germany it will be the first time since WW2. We can all see the direction of travel.

Of course. We don't disagree on that last point. Where we disagree is how to get there. I don't think that military action in the Channel and leaving the ECHR is the way forward. I think better ways include working closer with European partners within the current framework, and investing in poorer countries to mean that conflict reduces and living standards increase there.

We probably will work with the next French gov and I don’t think we could ever fund enough to fix issues o/s.

Again..its not the fault of the voters. Its the fault of the environment they are voting in. Which is the responsibility of successive governments.

And yes. It's absolutely terrible.

'Own people' is not a phrase i would use ever, so yes it is a little more complicated than your limited view of the world

I don't think my view of the world is any more limited than anyone else's on here including yours. And you may not use the phrase "own people" but I am perfectly content to. I am prepared to take people at face value rather than laying my own prejudices and pre conceived notions on their language. Usually....

Macron needs to go before we get any help from France. And we don't have the money to invest in our own country let alone all the others that are churning out those men in the boats. The UK is still miles more alluring than most poorer countries even if you do end up on benefits or working in the black market.

Own people only loaded in your own mind. In my mind (the person who actually wrote it) it means people who live in the UK legally. Not illegal immigrants who are the topic under discussion. Its not complicated.

Yes, I don't disagree on the last part either. Better ways in my opinion are the ones that you mention, and not risking our human rights by leaving the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR)

How do people know who is in the country illegally or not just by looking at them though?
You personally might just be referring to "people who live here illegally" but many, many don't. They look at skin and make assumptions.
Reducing it to "we're only talking about illegal immigrants" is massively simplifying things. As it's not at all.

Well I agree with you. Unfortunately thats the clear and present danger the country has found itself in due to successive governments not dealing with mass overwhelming immigration. It was fairly obvious it was going to happen. And its not the fault of the British people. It's the fault of the various governments. It's not right its happening. It's a massive injustice inflicted on all of us and people hate the fact our society has become so fractured. Hence why people are protesting. (I make no presumptions about the Dover lot's aim though).

Looking after our own people can mean several things. In the end, putting up barriers between countries (physical or economic) leads to conflict. Removing them reduces it. Our current system is imperfect, has its problems and needs attention. But the solutions proposed by those advocating the positions you suggest (and worse) will not make us safer or more prosperous in the long run.

It doesn’t have to. Ceuta and Morocco have put up physical barriers, plus returns agreed.

Plus if the French elections go to RN with Bardella involved there’s already an agreement.

Stairlifter · Yesterday 21:14

Pineneedlesincarpet · Yesterday 21:12

We live in the real world though. Not utopia. And barriers are going up everywhere. Removing barriers to vast numbers of people who come into the UK and will be a drain on the state will lead to our bankruptcy. The golden goose will have been killed. I'd prefer that not to happen. I'd rather like people to be able to receive a pension and medical care and disability benefits if needed for example. So we need to be able to chose who comes in...like any normal country.
