Masked men at Dover - KKK vibes

MumofCandR · Yesterday 11:53

They are utter cowards and hypocritical. The same ilk will state they're against the burkha and protests by environmental groups etc. but are happy to mask their faces in 'protest' the reality is they're just nasty specimens of humanity, full of people with self righteous white supremacy tendencies. AIBU.

It would take you less than a minute to find that information if you're truly interested, but here you have it 'During the 1920s, Klan local chapters ("klaverns") frequently organized silent parades through towns, often under the cover of night or dusk. Hundreds or thousands of robed, masked Klansmen would march through streets without making a sound or chanting slogans. The total silence was meant to project an omnipresent, eerie authority and convey a menacing message: We are watching you, we are everywhere, and we can act at any moment.'

Oh please you weren't likening the Dover protests to the KKK's 'silent parades' You were implying we are on a slippery slope to murder and burning homes. Own it.

Personally I’d feel a lot safer locked in a room with a bunch of anonymous balaclava-clad right wingers than a bunch of fresh off the boat migrants that we know nothing about 🤷🏻‍♀️

alright Bonnie blue 🙄

You know as much about the Bally men as you would the other men, providing you don’t personally know all white, right wing men?

It might do, if there’s reliable data on that. The rise and fall in crossings is really to do with weather, but governments of every colour use the number to beat each other with so it makes sense for those in opposition to do the same.

There will be a shift in the EU. It might not be the U.K. first but I can see a falling away from the system we have when the status quo loses its grip.

Interesting that there have been 0 arrests as per BBC, as opposed to the 169 arrests made at Notting Hill Carnival. Can't be that thuggish can they?

I believe that attendance at Notting Hill this year was well over a million, and that the far-right protestors at Dover numbered a few hundred, at most. And I suspect that there was a far bigger police presence at Notting Hill, too, so easier to make arrests.

Not a valid comparison really.

Maybe the outfits? Oh wait no white pointy hats seen. The fires and the murders? Nope none of those either. It's a mystery.
A scaremongering, hyperbolic, whip them up thread.

Is it anyone with a covering?

Does it matter that back of lorry numbers are going back up?

I've been to several KJK rallies. Actually threatened by men dressed and masked exactly rhe same. The police didn't give a fuck and I doubt you do either. Not to mention the weekly mask wearers at the Hamas supporters protests plus the climate activists.

It wasn't a legitimate protest. And yes the KKK did exactly what this group of men did to intimidate people. If you don't believe it you can actually find some facts with a quick search : 'During the 1920s, Klan local chapters ("klaverns") frequently organized silent parades through towns, often under the cover of night or dusk. Hope this helps you.

Yes, and again, blocking one of the main ports is NOT PEACEFUL.

Why don't you present us with an illustration on the similar practices to the KKK.

I hate all this far right/far left masked thugs/bigots/Nazi/Fascist name calling and point scoring. It seems you're either far right or far left these days. What about the people that previously occupied the centre ground?
Where is the centre ground as I truly don't know anymore? No one represents me anymore politically, but I am bombarded with this pernicious name calling/no debate/ you agree with me or you're a bigot/stupid/gammon/woke nonsense. I despair at state of debate and the need to try and understand other people's POV.

MumofCandR · Yesterday 18:01

Oh did the KKK quietly protest? I thought they set fire to homes and killed people?
Your scaremongering is sick and a bit weird tbh.

And equating a group of English people to the ss is perfectly reasonable?

Typical lefty. Miriam margolyes makes racist comments on live TV and it's fine. Someone is worried about the culture of the UK changing is weird

Edited

Let me know where I said that was reasonable, or where I said anything in support of Miriam Margolyes?

Tbh if I were protesting today I would also be tempted to cover my face if allowed. 37 people were arrested at the Henry Nowak protests. How many of those were by facial recognition? How many got a fair trial with a jury? How many were kept in custody with no clear date for release like Lucy Connolly was? I'm not saying they were all angels but unfortunately in this country you are not guaranteed to be treated fairly. The police are now arresting people for holding up anti-Islam placards in a revival of blasphemy laws (altho have dropped the cases now after pressure from FSU). I don't blame people for protecting themselves from police intimidation tactics.

Most of those arrested were already known to the police for domestic violence https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/jul/24/most-people-arrested-during-henry-nowak-protests-had-been-reported-for-domestic-abuse

It’s not clear how many had a jury trial, as not clear whether all were charged with indictable offences (i.e. charges that would entitle them to one). But from the article it sounds like some were open and shut cases:

Dillon Crawford, 29, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment after throwing a brown bin and a metal chair “with some force” at police officers during the disturbances. He has 19 previous convictions, including for domestic abuse offences. During one incident, he broke a partner’s front teeth, punching her unconscious, and, after she woke up, told her he had put bleach in her hair.

Andrew Summerhayes, 38, was seen throwing a wheelie bin at police during the disorder. He was sentenced to three years and two months for violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.

If you’re concerned about treatment in magistrates courts (where there are no jury trials) you can sign up as a volunteer to watch cases and monitor fair treatment https://www.transformjustice.org.uk/focus-areas/courtwatch/

Most people arrested during Henry Nowak protests had been reported for domestic abuse

Exclusive: Hampshire police data reveals 22 of 37 detained had been accused or convicted of intimate partner violence

Suggest you carry out historical research, the parallels are very chilling. There's none so blind as those who won't see.

It's likely there will be arrests off the back of yesterday, and particularly any professionals with an agreed code of conduct should be listening for the doorbell.
Somebody upthread mentioned a doctor, lawyer etc (I think it's now been deleted) that she knows were on the march. Rest assured their participation has probably been noted, if it was true. Road blocking in particular has precedents set. Some people will be losing their careers.

One can only hope so.... They certainly should suffer the consequences of their behavior. Though I suspect kid gloves may be used here, given the level of tension around, incited by the far right.

Ffs, seriously??

This place is a joke.

PinguMoll · Yesterday 17:54

People can't seemnto grasp the obvious.

These men are doing this because therenis nothing else for them to do!! How the hell are people to get their voices heard.

For decades people have voted to 'stop the boats'
Now we are seeing constant headlines of assaults, murders, rapes, stalkings.

No actually, we aren't, not really. Because its being surpressed.

The BBC narrative is that these men are dangerous animals. The reality is they are normal men who are fucking scared of the way the country, that their children have to grow up in, is heading.

And they have voted. They have signed petitions. They have filled in surveys. Talked to MPs

Non of it makes any difference because for some unknown reason our government are hell bent on allowing illegal migrants into our country at an alarming rate from countries that they tell British women not to travel to!!

All the are trying to do is make a point. Have a voice. Bring attention to the fact that we do not want this! Mass immigration of unskilled men from misogynistic countries is unwanted!!

And yes they wore masks. Probably because the lefties would be scrolling through the photos doxxing them and calling their bosses and mothers otherwise!

ZERO arrests. ZERO.

Yet its intimidating and suspicious.

600 arrests at Nottting Hill Carnival. Countless knives seized. Sexual assaults. And that is deemed successful?!

Make it make sense?!

I find the Pro Palestine rallys intimidating and offensive!! Do all those people deserve to be arrested for covering their faces. Chanting and marching??

If so, we have completely lost the right to protest.

And if you ban face coverings for security, does that include the Burka? Because I have seen a video of a MAN in a park who was found getting changed into a burka in the bushes.

If ballys are a risk so are burquas.

I'm so fucking sick of the double standards are hypocrisy.

Ballys at protests bad - kaffirs at protest, OK.
Flying St George - bad, Flying a Palestine flag, OK.
White men gathering in large groups- bad! Muslim men gathering in large groups, OK.

And that is why people are taking steps that appear more drastic, because nobody is fucking listening!

MumofCandR · Yesterday 17:54

Gloriia · Yesterday 17:42

There are no parallels to the KKK and tbh you really do a disservice to the poor victims who suffered at the hands of them. Stop the appalling false equivalence.

Disagree fine but saying a few people protesting is like the KKK is disgusting, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Suggest you carry out historical research, the parallels are very chilling. There's none so blind as those who won't see.
