Aibu feeling uneasy about men taking little girls to the toilet in the womens toilet?

He's taking the child for a pee, not hanging round trying to peer over the cubicle doors.

It wouldn't bother me one jot as long as the girl got to pee when she needed to.

No I won't stop. And I say this is as the mother of a disabled child.

Personally I think men should take their daughters into the men's toilets but if they really won't for whatever reason then they should use the disabled toilet which is unisex and a single entity rather than taking them into the women's toilets where they will encounter women who might reasonably expect privacy.

However I think they should just take them into the men's toilets.

going to be happening with alarming regularity and I’m sure the Dads would be sensible enough to let others use the facilities first if there’s a queue.

My husband never took my girls into the women’s loo. If he was out on his own he either used the disabled, took them in the men’s or waited outside the women’s loo. My girls pretty quickly decided they didn’t like the men’s toilets so if we’re all together they’d have always gone with me.

I think the trickier age is probably 4-5. At that point they were old enough to not like the men’s but might sometime need help with wiping for a poo and a bit too young to go into the women’s toilets alone.

They don’t “need” to bring a girl into the men’s toilets . There is zero excuse for a man being in there . Zero . It’s so snowflakey and ridiculous attitude that a girl can’t go to the men’s toilets with their father . Little boys are just as vulnerable as little girls . I bring my little boy to the women’s changing room when swimming . He doesn’t bat an eyelid if there are women changing in there.

I wouldn't care.

If I see a man in women's toilets regardless of who he is with I will tell him to leave

Then we should get rid of urinals so that all the men's toilets just have cubicles and therefore it's fine.

Blokes absolutely shouldn’t be going in women’s loos (or changing rooms).
And neither should women be taking boys over 8 into the ladies. If they’ve got any sort of disability be it physical or SEN then obviously they should use the disabled loos without a qualm.

Whats needed, obviously, is more provision of family-friendly loos - large enough for a parent, pushchair and more than one child of whatever sex to use. There are some of these - often of course also the baby change - but it’s weird how often places which have lots of families visiting don’t provide them - zoos, museums etc.

I work with sex offenders if you'd seen what I had you wouldn't want men in spaces where women are vulnerable. I also spent several years working with victims of domestic and sexual abuse, again almost all women. And yes NAMALT but it is men. Let's not pretend the risks are the same both ways. No MAN needs to go into a female toilet. There are no women taking their little boys into the men's. Funny how since the guidance was released about TIM using women's toilets there is now another reason for men to go into women's toilets

Because women will take children into the women's toilets.

Considering that most children don't lock the doors in case they can't get out, I would not be happy with this at all.

I don't care, I don't want men in women's toilets. Why should young girls and women particularly those who've experienced trauma have to deal with men in a space where they will feel vulnerable. Do you know what would make women's toilets safe for young girls to use? No men in them

I think you’ve misunderstood. It’s literally the exact opposite of that. Kids too young to use the toilet on their own go to the toilet that matches their parents sex. So mums take boys to the ladies whilst dads take girls to the mens and a woman shouldn’t be in the mens just like a man shouldn’t be in the ladies. No hypocrisy or double standards anywhere.

The child goes into the toilet with the parent until they’re old enough to go into the toilet alone. So little boys with mums come into the ladies and little girls with dads go into the men’s. Tho, ime, girls are usually allowed (by the parent) alone into the women’s at younger ages than boys are allowed to use the men’s.

What about a little boy seeing it or seeing women naked in a women’s changing room ? Naked bodies exist. It’s a fact of life .

I would take my young son into the women’s toilets. I would think it should work the other way but I know people feel uneasy about that especially the way men’s toilets are set up. But like others I’d probably opt for disabled but many are locked.

How is that hypocrisy? If with mother, child goes into women's toilets. If with father, child goes into men's toilets.

It's never occurred to me to take my son's into the men's toilets, so it's bizarre to me that a dad would even think about going into the women's toilets because he has a female child

Why not ? What is going to happen in the men’s toilet with the dad right there if she uses the cubicle . What is the difference between this and a little boy going into the loo with their mum or dad
