Aibu feeling uneasy about men taking little girls to the toilet in the womens toilet?

I've seen this a few times and I dont know what is the right thing to do.
So the other week we were at the cinema. I took my daughter to the toilet and as I was waiting for her a man came out of a cubicle with a little girl and went to wash her hands.
It got me thinking.
I feel uncomfortable a man in the womens toilet. I understand how you'd potentially feel uncomfortable taking a daughter into the mens toilets.
And the only other option in this situation was the disabled toilet but morally thats wrong.

I dont know what I feel is right in this situation so wanted to know other people's opinions.
So yabu: its right for a man to take girl into female toilets
Yanbu: he should take her somewhere else...but where?

I have no idea how this is even a debate. Men don't belong in female spaces. Young children can go with their parent into the toilets of the parent's gender.

I've never heard of a mum accompanying their son into the men's, why men feel able to free infringe on women's privacy I have no idea.

I honestly think any man looking for an excuse to pop into the ladies is someone to be concerned about.

Maybe they don't want their little girls to have to look at men's asses at the urinals.

No you don’t you safeguard your child as you see fit. If that’s a boy going in with his mum to the ladies or a dad going with his daughter into the ladies so be it. Simple as.

No . By your logic a mother should bring her little boy into the men’s . Adult men shouldn’t be in the women’s toilets and adult women should never be in the men’s . That is the way it is

Surely it's worse to takes little girl past urinals into a foul male loo ?

Why is it ok for little boys to be in a foul male loo?

Men need to start complaining about cleaning of their loos if they are that foul, not use women’s.

It’s not “safeguarding “ at all. You are using the term completely incorrectly here . The dad is with the child that’s the safeguarding . I did not say anything at all about a child going in alone , wherever you got that idea from . It’s “safeguarding “ to big grown men out of women’s toilets . It’s the epitome of selfishness. Oh and a male child goes into the women’s with their mother , men’s with their father . Just as it should be . You go to the toilet of the sex of the parent you are with. Simple as

I am sorry I don’t see a problem with this - he is not going to the toilet himself the daughter is. He is entering a cubicle and locking the door, washing her hands and leaving.

You think men turn around from a urinal and expose themselves to everyone in the room?

Do you watch a lot of videos of gay men on the internet?

They wait until it’s less visable to others or they’re alone. My son has told me. I believe him.

But the man isnt in there to perv over women. He's in there taking his little girl to the toilet. In a cubicle, just like everyone else. Some men are single parents/ joint custody didnt you know?

It doesn't matter why hes
there

he's an adult male in a female space

Everydayimhuffling · Yesterday 13:05

They should take their daughters to the men's toilet. They are there, making it safe. This is what my DP does.

Strongopiniononaboutprettymucheverything · Yesterday 13:05

No doubt some nice normal bloke who was looking after his little girl. What’s so scary about that ?

BlueSkiesAndSunshiiine · Yesterday 13:05

Just use the disabled loo. You'll only be in there for a few minutes whilst the kid has a wee.

Whether they are a single parent, married or anything else it makes zero difference. They need to take their daughter to the mens

And she will get a safe, private cubicle when her father takes her to the men's.

The young boys have rights as well.
In your logic, should fathers bring their boys to women's (to avoid going through men's), or mothers their boys to men's (because boys have rights too)?

That’s not my logic.

So how is the little girl in a cubicle in the men’s more safe than a woman in a cubicle in the women’s?

olivepicanto · Yesterday 13:04

Cloudtime · Yesterday 12:59

Exactly this . I can understand a very young female not wanted to see a bunch of men with their dicks out peeing but can not understand why adult women get so worked up about someone of another gender being anywhere near them while they’re in a locked cubicle . Not sure how people rationalise that a ‘woman’s right to privacy ‘ is more important than a female child’s .

Because my DD is entitled to a safe space.

LittleMissFooled · Yesterday 13:04

@Fasdmama that’s not normal. Mums take their kids to the ladies, and Dads take their kids to the men’s. I always felt sorry for my little girl having to use the men’s toilets as they are quite foul compared to the ladies.

Men shouldn’t be in the Ladies. If they are uncomfortable taking the kids in the Men’s, use the disabled.

Infact I’d be angry about this OP as I trust the Ladies to be safe for my 15 yo DD to use, i.e no men!

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · Yesterday 13:03

I always just took DD to the men's. Yes, sometimes it was a pain in the arse to find a clean cubicle sometimes, but that was the only issue. She wasn't unsafe in any way and she didn't see any penises, it's not like men are wandering round with them out.

By about 7 she was fine to go in the women's by herself, and to be honest that was the more uncomfortable stage for me. You get looks when lurking around near the entrance waiting for your daughter to come out.

So you think it would be fine for a man to be in the women’s changing room with a female child because of their right to privacy

I don't see what's wrong with using the disabled toilet in these circumstances. But if that was unavailable for any reason then, on balance, I think it's better he takes her to the ladies than to the gents. Imagine if someone was using the urinals!

But then a man could pretend he's in the women's toilets with his female dc as a cover for being a pervert. He should not be in the women's. He's denying his DD a female exclusive space by doing this.

user1496146479 · Yesterday 13:00

My DDs use the men’s bathroom if they are out with their dad! Not sure what the drama is about. They are with their other more than capable & responsible parent!

I am absolutely with you. I go into a toilet. Into a cubicle. Lock the door. Finish using the toilet. Leave cubicle and wash hands. There is nothing about this which gives me any concern about what anyone else is doing in the same environment especially not a man with a little girl. The world has gone mad.

I disagree with the OP. Disabled toilet first then ladies. If the latter then getting a woman to be at the entrance if at all possible to advise anyone who might take the view of the OP.

I have 4 daughters. At no point EVER do I want them to have to be in a men's toilet literally exposed to mens genitals on show.
If there really is no other option how any woman could have an issue with a father bringing his small daughter into a female toilet rather than expose them to that is really beyond me.
For context- i have experienced rape so I can absolutely understand there will be some women that feel uncomfortable and that is really unfortunate but we need to protect children

Are you ok with little boys seeing women naked in the women’s changing room

olivepicanto · Yesterday 12:56

lessglittermoremud · Yesterday 12:47

I’ve been in the ladies when there has been a knock on the door and a Dad has shouted “Dad with a small daughter about to come in”.
He stuck his head around saw it was only me in there washing my hands and asked if I minded that he had tried the gents and they were disgusting and smelt and the little one was desperate.
I told him to come in and then I stood in the doorway to let anyone else about to come in that there was a bloke in there with his little girl.
They were in there for a few minutes and then dashed out, he was really apologetic to the couple of ladies that had chosen to wait outside but no one minded.
Hopefully more places move with the times and offer family toilets in the baby changing areas etc.
My 6 year old boy comes into the ladies with me if we’re out without his big brothers/Dad. No way am I sending him into the gents on his own at that age, and even now with my 11 year old I stand right outside the door.

Why don't you take your 6 year old to the men's?
