AIBU to be annoyed husband keeps overloading our washer dryer?

We have a combination washer dryer. It is relatively modern, and has a 6kg dryer limit and 9kg washer limit.

My husband regularly overloads the machine and it is annoying me.

He put on a wash / dry cycle today that took six and a half hours.

We had a disagreement about it and he weighed it - 7.5kg. But it was literally double a normal wash - i couldn't fit it all in our largest washing basket.

It's all his clothes so pants, socks, t shirts. They are horribly creased and usually even that programme isn't enough and he'll put it all on for another full drying cycle.

Can people please help me with arguments to persuade him to stop doing this?

Yes I know this is trivial and we haven't had a row - I just can't seem to persuade him. He does the same with our bedsheets so they are all horribly creased. I

With a washer dryer always take the clothes out and shake them between the wash and dry, minimises the creases

I have separate washer and dryer but dryer only holds 6kg. DH used to do a larger load of washing and then simply push it all into dryer but it couldn't tumble as no room so it used to take ages and be all crumpled. I had a good moan and told him to dry half a wash load at a time. He's finally seen the light and now it's all good.

It is common sense that if it is too full then the clothes don't have room to circulate for drying. I have inherited a washer dryer- in my new home. I am not impressed.

I have a washer dryer with the same capacity. I take t shirts and shirts out after washing and straight onto a hanger, they never need ironed that way. They get so crumpled in the dryer. This way the other things dry much quicker as well.

This. It’s only a problem if you think you are the person who needs to deal with the consequences. Don’t be that person, leave him to it.

This would annoy me too. We had a similar capacity washer dryer that died last year, and I was honestly glad to see the back of it. If you have space to hang things to dry, I’d recommend a meaco dehumidifier.
