I absolutely agree that allowing homeless people to go hungry is a stain on our society.

However, I don't agree that asylum seekers are the cause of this.

We don't have to choose between supporting vulnerable British people and vulnerable asylum seekers. We just need the political will to make change happen.

Arguably, the constant focus on migration is just a distraction for government which gets in the way of them dealing with the real challenges that our society faces.

And the two most aggressive/ vulnerable participants in the conference just happened to be right by her and also pre prepared was Nigel with a power point of ' Boring' and quip about sociology degrees.
So- where was the risk assessment outlining roles in the event of a protest/ fracas and why wouldn't a leader in that situation immediately appeal for calm. Or remain silent.

well did he see it or didn't he? It lasted more than a moment.
So where did this 5 million go because he can't have engaged with his security team on a safety plan. That's no one's professional plan.

I wasn't really talking about becoming disabled, although it's absolutely something that could happen. Literally a broken leg could be enough for somebody to not be able to pay their rent if their solution was already precarious. And at that point it's hello tent.

I've mentioned previously that my workplace is literally next to a migrant hotel - owned by the same woman who owns the land our plant is on.

I was at the lights turning into plant the other day and there was a young English guy asking for food. He didn't look like a crackhead and was asking for food rather than money. People were giving him bags of crisps and sandwiches they'd packed for work etc. And there was literally a food delivery going on in the carpark of the migrant hotel. It just seemed dystopian.

It's easy to call people intolerant online but actually seeing this stuff in person is uncomfortable. It's not about disliking anybody for their race (although certain cultural differences are problematic), it's just about realising it's insane to not be able to house our own population yet not effectively manage how many people we take in and house/provide for.

I work in the construction sector with a lot of self employed men that are one workplace injury away from being unable to work and being given a tent and sleeping bag.

This is exactly what disability benefits exist for. You know, the ones Reform wants to cut? And housing benefits.

I've had to leave work because of becoming disabled. I was lucky enough to be in employment rather than self-employment so went onto Contributory benefits rather than just means-tested, which has saved me a small degree of degradation in terms of having my bank-accounts combed through. Still have to go through the even more soul-destroying disability assessments though, and the lying assessors and the appeals and reinstatements.

It's deeply shit, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But this is why we have disability benefits.

Asylum seekers’ accommodati9n is funded by central government. The majority of the costs come from the overseas budget. It’s not covered by council housing budgets. As to unlimited housing - have you seen how many empty properties there are in the U.K.?

My Reform council seems to positively champion hopelessness. They have made a real effort to get as many hopeless people as possible elected as councillors.

Reform Councils tend to need extra funding for reducing “hopelessness”.

It will not, different budgets, one is funded entirely by central government, the other is funded locally
