I’m not afraid of spiders.

however I’ve just sat in frozen shock and terror when a massive spider scuttled past me and came to rest in front of one of my daughters toys.

i dont know how to get across how absolutely huge it was.
I called my husband like a pathetic idiot - I couldn’t move! He thought I was taking the piss and didn’t come down until I literally begged because I’ve never called him for anything like that in 19 years!!!

He was shocked too but promptly got rid of it for me. It was so big - and fast running by - I thought there was a bloody small mouse in the house!!

Feel so bad I’ve wondered how people can be so afraid of spiders- I get it now 😭

Usually one(or both)of my cats will eat any spider silly enough to be within reach but I have come across several half chewed ones just laying on the floor and screamed.

I can't do the leggy sods 😩

I’ve done that before but I’m not sure it worked. Keeping those spindly ones around helps. We have had a massive one in the bathroom already and a huge one on my DD’s bedroom floor which she woke me up in the night to get rid of and they were a few weeks ago. I’ve got two cats but not sure they will get rid of them. In answer to the poster who said they come back. I once took one down the street and released it from the spider catcher and it ran after me!

Yeah I always try and let the skinny ones stay in my house for this reason. I can tolerate sharing a room with them if they stay put far away from me (which they tend to) and they earn their keep by eating the meaty buggers. My cat also enjoys killing the chunky boys but she leaves their crumpled bodies on the stairs for me to find every morning, which is... nice.

I thought it was a bit early for them but already had to get rid of two enormous ones . So this weekend going looking for conkers to place around . Wonder do they really work .

It’s our stairs they are always on. Why? Or maybe I just see them there because it’s a light carpet…

?? Surely you have a size comparison in your mind – like size of hamster, tennis ball etc ?

I evicted a huge spider from our bedroom this morning!

Generally, I keep a yoghurt pot and piece of card handy to catch them in - but this one was so huge I had to go and find something a lot bigger to fit over it!

I'm not the biggest fan of spiders, but I would never hurt them, and I always put them outside.

Genuinely have no idea, no one had been near it at that point.
It ran like lightning and then stayed frozen there for ages until DH came down. Might’ve been afraid of the Barbie ambulance it ran into🤪

I would name them after ex uk prime ministers. So the next one will be called "Sir Keir", Then Rishi, then Liz then .......

September is spider month! I love spiders but even I get a shock from the big ones. It’s the speed that does it. If they were gentle amblers like cellar spiders or daddy longlegs it’d be okay. But no they are the fastest spider in the world!

We’re in Scotland so the weather hasn’t been as extreme, but DD came shooting out of her room yesterday morning as one emerged from the piles of clothes on her floor. She’s normally fine with them but apparently this one was a big bastard. If it encourages her to pick up her clothes I will personally catch flies for it!

You missed a trick there, should have told her you sent it to tell her to pick up her clothes.

A big one ran over our model railway last week. Scaled up to OO, it was the size of a tractor.

I'm not a spider fan, and DS1 is also scared of them.

Luckily DS2 (6) loves all creepy crawlies and will catch big ones for us and after staring at them for a bit will take them outside while talking lovingly to the spider "come on little guy, we are just going to the garden..."

Plus, they’ll eat any stray flies or mosquitoes and mostly won’t come near us big, scary humans.

I don't like spiders but I try to get them outside if I can.. the ones in stupid places like over my head or too high to reach, I spray with Raid ant and cockroach killer.. they will run initially but then will curl up and die (sorry 🕷)

I really like spiders but do liberate them to the great outdoors if they’re overly big or false widows. Any false widows go straight outside whatever their size.

My last lovely cat was afraid of spiders to the extent she’d jump and run away if she saw one. God love her.

The mum of the house, of a Twitter account I follow, was woken recently by the footsteps (footsteps!!!) of a big spider going up the wall.

Imagine something so big you hear it's footsteps 😱

I'm going to be sleeping with the light on again tonight now I've thought of it again...

I've actually had this before. I had a gift bag next to my bed and i could hear something in it. Lo and behold, a rather huge spider was crawling up the inside of it.
