OMG Miriam Margolyes Andi Peters

I've got an annual leave day today and am spending the morning shamelessly on the sofa watching daytime TV with cups of tea and biscuits after an exhausting school summer hols. Kids back at school today. I've given myself permission to vegetate till 3:15pm.
So here I am watching This Morning and have just spent 5 minutes with my jaw wide open and hand over my mouth at what Miriam Margolyes just said to Andi Peters.
Did anyone else see it??
I mean it takes a lot to shock me. I am not easily shocked.
And this woman is currently doing a sell out tour??
Whoah.

Recently saw a MN poster blathering that, "Freedom of speech DOES mean freedom from consequences. And if there are consequences then it isn't freedom of speech."

If Miriam Margolyes is no longer booked by TV stations because she is so very likely to be rude and even racist to the hosts or guests, is that her freedom of speech being curtailed?

Do TV stations somehow have a duty to book her?

I wish I could remember the poster's name, and they could come here and answer this for us.

That poster clearly doesn’t understand what “freedom of speech” means.

I compared my arm (I am white) to a friends arm (he is Asian) recently, noting that I was in fact darker.
We had been talking about sunbathing and tanning, neither of us batted an eye at talking about skin colour.

People in that bubble have been so scared of that accusation for so long that they can’t fathom when someone pushes back against it. Their ability to form a coherent argument has simply atrophied.

I don't know why anyone's trying to defend Miriam. It was very obvious Andi was uncomfortable and she just kept going.

She's antisemitic, supports Palestine over her fellow countrymen and women. She's every liberal's dream. They are hot on the trail of racism, except when the target is one of their own.

While I'm not defending her behaviour, your post shows misunderstanding: she is anti-Zionist, not anti-semitic. Also she's not an Israeli and therefore Israelis are not her countrymen and women.

She has said she is anti zionist because she cannot accept Israel having its own state, in its current form. How nice of her when she's away from the antisemitism her people have to endure because they don't enjoy her safe little haven.

They want to be seen as being on the right side of history. While genocides are fabricated and mass rape and torture of Jewish women and children are buried, their sentiments are just empty vessels.

Yes it is so very selective isn't it. When people target one group of people, when they hate one nation for defending itself, when you never see them criticising actual atrocities committed in other countries. It's only when Israel do it. Isn't there a name for that targeted hate?
