expand on your point, are you suggesting that people don’t really object to the racism or bad language or delight in telling “shocking” stories , they object to her doing it as a Jewish woman who supports Palestine so a bit like Zak goldsmith? This story makes zero sense. She was issued with an on air warning “via Andi’s earpiece”? She wouldn’t hear such a warning? Surely if anything was said via Andi’s earpiece it was to Andi and it was up to him to issue the warning to her? It doesn’t sound like he did, or that he said something about the gallery getting nervous but not really stepping in and warning her.

Bringing up race or religion or sexuality etc without context is very ‘othering’. When you are having a conversation and someone brings up that you are Asian/Jewish/gay etc completely
randomly, it is quite an unpleasant and jarring feeling. It sounds like not a big deal but it can be quite disappointing and uncomfortable when it happens. If you haven’t experienced it, you may not understand.

Maybe she should have been wearing classes, if she was being genuine by asking if he is mixed race. That question alone was bonkers, and using the term that she did, was totally inappropriate, and he would never have fitted that outdated, offensive description anyway. She was talking complete nonsense!

You are allowed to criticise her but get your facts correct. I am not defending her just correcting you saying she lives in the USA where she obviously picked up her racist habits!

Bringing up someone’s race out of context is a form of racism.

She went off beam and the producers are saying to Andi Peters to rein her in.

It seems to be her thing, it sounds like she’s earned a lot of £ from it, perhaps it has a shelf life after all.

The thing is, for Andi P, this will have felt personal. He is a consummate pro so will probably not say much in public. But this comment will have had some impact. He will have recognised it as racism. It wasn’t one comment; it was all small acts of racism. Why did she need to ask anything at all about his race. How dare she decide he is welcome here. That slur was just bizarre. Every small racist act can hit home. I speak from experience.

It’s not just about offending viewers. it is about the impact on the individual and many PoC who would understand and relate to their own experiences. It’s about condemning it in public and creating a better world for future generations. I am not crying about this, but think her behaviour needs calling out. It will help the next generation of PoC too, including mixed race kids like my own.

He is excellent at his job. Great demeanour, friendly and interested, understands live tv. He's 56, looks amazing!

I've always loved AP. Always chirpy, inoffensive and (sickeningly!) Never seems to age.

Not a single thought for other mixed race people and their parents. She seems to believe not having filters is a minor thing.

I didn’t know she was gay actually and I was pretty sure I’d read that AP was openly gay. Apologies if I got that wrong. Certainly didn’t want any speculation if he hasn’t said anything himself. It was more a light hearted comment in reference to the thread title with no context other than two names

I lived through those years in a multicultural area and let me tell you being seen "as other" even though I was born in the UK was no fun for the casual racism constantly encountered under the surface of most days....

So you thought a 50+ man had "got with" an 85 year old woman who so happens to be a lesbian and now you want to distract the thread with AP is he isn't he ?
