To need to being myself down off this high (not drugs)- from a concert

When to see Bon Jovi in Edinburgh . OMG it was amazing. I have seen them before but it just sent me on such a high. I feel like I have been floating ever since. I can’t stop thinking about it. Looking up clips, day dreaming. I also get the feeling it may be the last time they tour.

My husband is finding it quite funny at the moment. I have been a fan since I was 8 (now 45)

has this ever happened to anyone else. I feel so silly I need to get my brain back in gear.

cold shower?
slapping myself?

any other ideas. Expecting some comments about how sad this is and how Bon Jovi is awful

I’ve no advice but I was there as well and what an amazing night!! I’m not surprised you are still on a high 😁

ExitPursuedByABare · 02/09/2026 21:21

I think it’s lovely that you’ve had such a reaction.

forestaremagic · 02/09/2026 21:21

Happened to me recently, I saw in concert and met my teen idol, only took 40 years.

i felt like I was 13 again, watching videos, listening to his music, lasted a few days and normal life kicked in.

So enjoy for now, you were probably really excited looking forward to the concert, now you have concert blues, like holiday blues. You feel like it never happened and unfortunately normal life resumes

Gardenisablooming · 02/09/2026 21:22

Ask dh if your next 'session ' you can call him Jon??

PermanentTemporary · 02/09/2026 21:23

That’s so great to hear. Why not stay with the high as long as possible?? Life isn’t like this every day…

Orcadolp · 02/09/2026 21:39

My dh has already said jokingly (I think) do I want him to dress up as said singer for our next “session”.

I am like er no love it’s ok. I am guessing he meant the 80s rocker look and not a grey wig to look like Jon as he is now. (Though I would not kick either version of the actual Jon out of bed)

Yes it happened to me with a different artist. High lasted a few days. I'd say enjoy it and ride it out.

EmeraldRoulette · 02/09/2026 21:42

I would say, just enjoy it
It’s great when that happens!

I was a fan of theirs from a similar age! Glad you had such a good time.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 02/09/2026 21:43

Enjoy the feeling it won’t last forever. I am a huge fan too.

Orcadolp · 02/09/2026 21:45

We were staying just outside Edinburgh and had an amazing week taking in the fringe and the tattoo as well. So I think it’s all possible a big comedown.
I have not felt that young and free in a long time. DH did a lot of the stuff on our own as our sons grandparents came with us but they only wanted to do bits and then were happy to look after DS, who was quite happy to play football with the other kids on the holiday park and get money out of his grandparents for the arcade. I felt like we were both newly going out again and rediscovering each other.

The sex would have been amazing only we were in a caravan with his parents in the room next door!!!! We may have ahem improvised a little and found some ahem quiet places. Not done anything like that well since before we were married nearly 18 years ago

Enjoy it and don't try to come down.
(I can still summon up the ecstatic thrills from gigs I was at in the late ‘70s! It all stays with you if you let it)

Middlemarch123 · 02/09/2026 21:50

Just enjoy it, Jon Bon is gorgeous. Lucky you.
I was the same after seeing George Michael live a couple of decades ago. High as a kite for weeks. Still watch the concert on YouTube and remember every amazing moment.

FairViewRosie25 · 02/09/2026 21:52

Always take a couple of days to come down after a gig. I’m 61 spoke to my 86 yr old aunt a few weeks ago she said it takes her a week to get back to normal after a holiday I’m inclined to agree with her. We went to London For the weekend 2 weeks ago for sight seeing and Jesus Christ Superstar took me nearly a week to get over that

StripyShirt · 02/09/2026 21:52

The post-gig high is a precious thing.

We all need more of it!

fashionqueen0123 · 02/09/2026 21:54

I think it’s normal after a concert. If you go on instagram there’s usually loads of fans posting videos and stuff and reliving it over and over!

RunLyraRun · 02/09/2026 21:57

It happened to me seeing Coldplay at Wembley last year! (And yes, thank you, I’m aware that some people hate them!)

I felt like I was floating on a cloud for days, reminiscing about specific songs and, like you, watching clips. Banging on to anyone who would listen about how it was one of the best nights of my life!

It gradually faded but I agree with others, enjoy it while it lasts, these moments are fleeting.

cakewitch · 02/09/2026 22:15

I felt like this after being fortunate enough to watch prince play to an extremely small audience. Took me days to come down off that purple cloud. 😍

Orcadolp · 02/09/2026 22:15

Coldplay are on my to see list

Specialagentblond · 02/09/2026 22:27

I was like this after Coldplay and we are going to see Bon jovi on Friday. Really looking forward to it now.

FeelingALittleWoozyHere · 02/09/2026 22:31

Seeing Bon Jovi on Friday and plan on riding the high as long as possible!!

This. Enjoy it OP!

HeneralClux · 02/09/2026 22:42

Oh I love a concert high! I watch reels of the concert, listen to it all again on Spotify, join the FB concert groups....its a strong high for me and higher when they are favourites for 20-30 years! I cried with joy at a couple of concerts!

Hecatoncheires · 02/09/2026 22:46

You would be very unreasonable to bring yourself down! Enjoy the fun feeling and eke it out for as long as possible. I met my teenage hero/crush/beloved last year - never in my life did I think I ever would! - and I was buzzing for days. Was so wired I couldn’t sleep and kept thinking about him. But I’m over it now. 😁

Dublassie · 02/09/2026 22:48

I’m so glad you mentioned this . I get this high from musicals . I just love them and am the happiest person in the world when I see them !!! I go to far too many . I think I’m addicted to the high 🙈

Gribouille · 02/09/2026 22:56

What a lovely thread!

My last post-gig high was Nick Cave... 😍
