AIBU to make a roast when my daughter asked me not to?

Adult daughter 22 is not a fan of roast dinners. She asked me if I could not do a roast dinner today and make something else which I agreed to. However I had a chicken in freezer that needed using up today but I did make a pasta bake which is something she likes as an alternative. I like to make a family dinner on a Sunday for us all. Daughter was disappointed about the roast but I explained to her I had to use chicken up but I did make something she liked as alternative. She said to me you told me you wouldn’t make a roast and she looked upset. She didn’t go hungry though as she had Cottage Pie after saying there’s nothing to eat. AIBU to of made the roast even though there was pasta dish as alternative or was she being unreasonable here as I feel bad about it.

Like many others, I don’t understand why you’d freeze a chicken for maybe 24 hours to then thaw it for maybe 48 hours just to cook it on the same day that you would have done if you didn’t freeze it at all.

Either way she had 3 options: unwanted roast, pasta bake or shepherd’s pie. For her next birthday buy her a cookery book and some utensils and tell her Sunday lunch is down to her but warn her about meals you don’t want.

So if you hadn’t made the roast, there would have been pasta bake… and she would have eaten leftovers instead. Is she always so incredibly entitled and ungrateful?? I made you something specifically last time and you not only didn’t eat it but was mad the pasta bake I made you was not the only thing I cooked. I am not taking any requests from you, it’s clearly time you started cooking for us not the other way around. We won’t be ungrateful twats, so it will be much more rewarding for you. It could not be less rewarding than it is for me to cook you a specific dish and have you so ungrateful you eat something else. I’m cooking what I feel like, you’re an adult.

I’ve just got up to have a wee and had to look to see what you said about the chicken & it’s date,
IF you hadn’t replied at all because you were in bed or inserting the pasta bake where the sun don’t shine then fair enough.
But you’ve been back and haven’t answered the question.

On the inside of my freezer there's pictures of food and then a guide for how long it can be frozen. Maybe that's what op means? I think you can store things for years in a chest freezer but not a regular fridge freezer, although me and everyone I know does.

Ok first your daughter is fine, fed and if she wanted something else she can make it as an adult.

22 you say? I was cooking tea from when I was about 9. Our mum would take some meat out the freezer and we were expected to do something with it. Our nanna did do most of the chopping but she wouldn’t use the cooker so we had to do it. My disabled daughter helps me prepare veg she loves to help try stopping her. I would suggest she cooks for the family next Sunday.

Who cares if she’s upset, she’s 22 years old! Eat what is prepared for you or buy/cook your own damn meals. My mother gave me this option at 13, not 22.
