To think AI sex dolls should be illegal

I suspect in some dim and distant future people’s (men’s) sexual interactions with sex dolls will be automatically registered if potentially damaging to a human partner. Potential partners would be able to request red flagged data. I’m assuming that most women (me included) would run a mile from Mr stabs his sex doll in the vagina with a screwdriver so would be effectively limiting him away from human partners.

I agree sex offenders should be locked up. However, if someone hasn’t acted out their urges on real women it doesn’t make them a sex offender. Undoubtedly a weirdo, but not a criminal.

Sex offenders should be treated as such and charged as sex offenders, not allowed to fuck a sex doll to fill their pedophile needs and walk the streets. Like I said set the bar higher!

I been watching some of the discord around the new Grand Theft Auto game, featuring a woman character and the subsequent sexapades surrounding that (also strip club content) and my mind immediately thought of Mumsnet.

Whether it's dolls , AI or pixels , some men will continue to use visual material, like it or not and we can no longer use the exploitation of 'real woman' argument anymore - at least that's what they will tell us.

That article was a disturbing read. Previously, I'd just thought sex dolls were for saddo blokes who were too smelly, ugly or disgusting to get inside a real woman's pants, but... bruised faces? Realistic, pulsating vaginas, and custom faces to resemble real people? That's all way beyond weird. There needs to be some kind of register for these people, and they need to be monitored. I'd happily sign that petition.

I saw a documentary years ago on the child sex dolls, the faces were awful, made to look sad, scared and crying with watery eyes. I’m under no illusion about the types of men who use these, sex is only part of it, it’s subjecting someone to a miserable time. No doubt they would escalate.

Given this seems to be a whole industry there must be a great many of these dolls. The article cites a single case of a doll that seems to have been painted (or printed?) bruises. Then one in Korea where the owner seems to have stabbed one. Presumably these are out of thousands that exist.

So those who do have a fetish for these things don’t automatically have a desire to stab women and children (apparently they don’t make children dols either).

The complaints here are projecting danger on no evidence, even the academics are not citing evidence just assuming that there must be a link from them to violence. As others have pointed out, there would be a more logical link form violent video games to actual violence but the link doesn’t exist. So this is taking a disgust response and then justifying it with a claim to harm. No one needs to justify a disgust response, but people also shouldn’t claim evidence of something that isn’t there.

There is currently no evidence on this. Some would argue it prevents them from acting out on real women as they have an outlet. Unfortunately, there just hasn’t been enough research into this topic.

That is a level headed response. I agree it’s hard to get past the initial disgust. I think they’re revolting myself. It’s a bit too close to necrophilia or a date rape victim for my comfort.

But it does enter a very grey area when we start trying to control what sex aides people can use in the privacy of their own homes. A dildo is a penis replica after all. Would it be weirder attached to a male doll, in my opinion yes, but the counter argument would be taking a specific part of the anatomy and creating a sex toy from this is further objectification.

I have to check my own sexism and bias towards this topic. I wouldn’t judge a woman using a vibrator in the same way I would a man using a flesh light.

Overall, there needs to be more research into the impact of sex dolls negative or otherwise before we scrap them altogether.

There have always been weirdos. Trouble is it feels like the weirdos and weirdo behaviour have moved from the secret to the mainstream. That's the danger. The normalisation of what was previously seen as unacceptable behaviour. When I was young porn was top shelf magazines. Now you don't have to look your neighbours or the newsagent in the eye as your hand reaches to the top shelf. Porn is available everywhere, all the time. That's a retrograde step in my opinion.

There is an issue here. We don’t know. But more importantly people wouldn’t care even if we did.

Most people will react to these things based upon a initial emotion. They will be disgusted by the idea and then look for reasons to justify the disgust. Even weirder some people try and train themselves out of the disgust response. We don’t actually need to justify the disgust, we just need to learn to accept it and then objectively access the situation. But most people hate doing that.

The idea of these dolls is disgusting to most people so they will just stop at that and look for reasons to call them harmful and demand they are banned. Even if these did have evidence that they reduced violence (which I don’t think they would have any impact either way) most responses would still be that they need to be banned.

Well - until acting out his deranged violent fantasy on an unfeeling doll isn't enough anymore and he needs a real woman to get his happy feeling.
It doesn't stop with porn. It won't stop with sex dolls. Eventually these men take it out into the real world. The doll is just a prop. It's methadone rather than heroin and it won't give them the high they're after for long.

But normal men don’t use sex dolls. Only freaks and weirdos.
