Not to post on threads when the OP posts once and disappears

people have lives, I get that. But after several pages not to have come back is just rude.

It's been happening on Style and Beauty too recently, like advice on dress for a wedding or something and days later, loads of helpful suggestions but OP never comes back.
Baffling. Yes, apparently no-one uses the word baffling in real life. Well I do! (That's another thread, sorry...😂)

For longer threads, if there are a number of responses on the first page but none from OP I'll check if they've replied. If they haven't I'll move on. Otherwise you just end up reading a load of responses saying the same thing and it's boring.

Yep, it's rude. I always watch if the OP has come back before reading a thread. You try to give advice and put time and effort in so it's very rude not to come back. In some cases I'm sure it's because the OP doesn't like the answers. It has happened to me but I still come back because the whole point is getting different povs or you can just stay in your echo chamber. The thing I like about mn is that people can be honest whereas irl it's harder to tell someone when you think they are wrong.

Especially, when it’s a long post asking for help or opinions. Why bother if you’re not going to reply?

Imagine, asking a question in real life and then just walking away. It would appear rude.

I think in most of these cases, they are either trolls looking to get people frothing so they can sit laughing at all the comments (whatever floats their boat, I guess).

Or it’s that they don’t like the answers they got, so they just don’t come back.
