I know I sound horrible. I know I’ll get lots of hate saying leave him the poor man but I know a lot of women feel the same.
I love him but he just gets on my nerves anyone feel the same? Give me stories / things your husbands do that grate on you like a fork on a brick wall. 😂 I know I sound vile. I’m honestly not, just ughhhhh shudder.

Dear god the ones taking this so literal and being ‘heartbroken’ at the thought of it all. Fun sponges. Lighten up. Not everything has to be so fucking serious.

fwiw I tell my husband how annoying he is, he tells me too. It’s called banter.

I think people just have really different relationships though. I don’t have anyone in my life that would say they can’t stand me as banter. My parents didn’t do that so I suppose I didn’t choose a husband or friends who would say they can’t stand me. Not to my face as banter and not on an internet forum.

It's not being a fun sponge not to find it funny to sit and slag off your partner and bitch about how you can't stand them.

My DH drives me mad as well sometimes and I'm sure I do him, but if he told me he couldn't stand me, or I found out he'd been saying as much, I'd be really upset, and I would bet most people on this thread would feel the same.

@omgcomeon I think we have it the other way round. Everything I do or like my DH seems to hate or it irritates him!

I like music playing. He likes quiet.

I play instruments. He hides the other side of the house.

I love reading. He hates it.

I have sensitive hearing so like the subtitles on as otherwise I pick up background noise (dog, kids, outdoor noise etc...) and can't hear what they are saying. He refuses to watch TV with subtitles on.

But for me, he insists on doing DIY stuff then it takes him MONTHS, and my biggest pet hate is he greets the dog first when he comes in from work!

My husband drives me insane. Especially when I’m in the kitchen trying to cook, he’ll come and make a coffee with his massive elaborate coffee machine, spill stuff, get in the way, stand in front of drawers I need in.

it’s a rule now we can’t eat in silence, we need music or something. Because the noise of him eating makes me want to strangle him.

I get you, you love him, but husbands are fucking annoying. The same way it would be spending that amount of time with anyone I imagine!

Yes we also have to have music or TV because of the sound of him eating! He also likes to leave footwear in the middle of doorways and brings his cereal back to bed to eat early in the morning and leaves his bowl on the bedroom floor. Our DS is 17 now and our marriage is fairly good, we do some nice stuff together. But when our son was born up til he was about 11 I felt like I had two kids not one and was ready to leave on a regular (possibly hormonal) cycle!

Branwells77 · 29/08/2026 12:28

This made me giggle this morning because I’m currently annoyed with mine he hasn’t done anything wrong, I am due on anytime now and every month I get the exact same feeling towards him I’m never nasty to him or say anything because I know it’s my hormones and it will pass in the next few days but honestly the fact he is in the house is getting on my nerves 😂 we no longer have young children and we have been together forever and no I don’t need to leave him

EmmaB1309 · 29/08/2026 12:27

Oh yes, plenty times in our 15 years of marriage I’ve thought actually can’t stand you.

He can’t do anything quietly. Loud footsteps, loud voice, loud sneezing….

The snoring. Oh the fucking snoring…..

Skidmarks on the toilet never cleaned.

When our daughter was newborn and sleeping in our room I would be up like 6am to feed her, then I’d put her back down and try to have another couple hours sleep. But he would get up for work and stomp around the room, making as much noise as possible and spraying his deodorant for what felt like hours, and I would lying there wanting to strangle him and thinking ‘if you wake her I may actually commit murder’.

He puts a washing on then leaves it in there, not hanging it up, it festers, the rest of the washing piles up, he puts it on again and so the cycle continues for sometimes, I kid you not, three or four cycles. I do mine and dds but it’s not like I refuse to his with ours, he wants it done separately but just doesn’t bloody hang it up!

I do love the sod though.

paomara · 29/08/2026 12:26

The only solution is separate houses, failing that separate kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms. It works for Charles and Camilla doesn't it?

I'm with my DP over 20 years. Separate houses. Still in love and no aggro. He can do all the annoying things in his own house. 😊

silverstorm101 · 29/08/2026 12:22

My husband of 25+ years is my best friend, the absolute love of my life...

But the way that man eats a packet of crisps... I swear to god...

He practically shoves the whole packet into his mouth at once and then proceeds to crunch with the noise of the T-Rex entrance in Jurassic Park.

Anyhow the other night whilst watching TV he let out a huge sigh, I asked if he was okay and he replied, you eat chocolate really strangely...

So I guess it's a mutual thing 😂

Aside from the black and white mix up - which would piss me right off...

He's woken up and cooked breakfast for the children and you've gone out to drink coffee and read a book in a coffee shop. Tonight he will buy a nice takeaway. Regarding the milk, have you never forgotten anything in the supermarket?

Oh but you’ve forgotten. Women are right and men are wrong.

ForLuckyCat · 29/08/2026 12:13

This made me laugh. I’m the exact same. Too many annoyances to list. And at a certain time of the month I even think about divorce 🤣🤣 x

heresiarch · 29/08/2026 12:10

Absolutely. The utter temerity of a man would thinks he's entitled to spend time in his own home with his wife. What an utter bastard! He should know he's not allowed inside!

RosaNovella · 29/08/2026 11:58

Oh god the poor bloke crew are here!🙄
Husbands can be annoying
Wait until you retire and hes in the house ALL THE TIME
Mine would ask me all the time what I was doing next
FO I know what Im doing thanks!

We are through it now, he keeps himself busy but I love it when he goes out!
Meno means your tolerance hormones plummit , its a common time for divorce
If he died or left me I would never live with another man or even bother with one

DressOrSkirt · 29/08/2026 11:52

I can't imagine living with someone I couldn't stand!

Mycatisreal · 29/08/2026 09:52

As we were trying to go to sleep last night he kept yawning and making this clicking noise. I was this far from punching his head into the pillow.

Own room
Utter bliss

Behind every great man is THE FUCKING CUPBOARD HIS WIFE IS TRYING TO REACH!!!

It’s true, they are just SO BIG/ occupy so much space and all when you’re rushing about!
Also drives me mad he’ll go from room to room emptyhanded, without carrying stuff to put away.

It’s almost like he can only focus on one thing at a time while I’m constantly multitasking/ thinking ahead.

But there are sooo many good points too and I have my own foibles so most of the time I’ll keep sschtum.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 29/08/2026 11:18

I truly love my husband and I believe that god or the universe dropped him out of the sky for my personal enjoyment… but

  1. He wears these ugly old man slippers and I just HATE them. He has 10 pairs stocked in the loft so he’s “set for life” so I will never be rid of them.
  2. He is really tidy but when he comes in he just basically takes his shoes off and he doesn’t make them neat he just like discards them.
  3. He doesn’t towel dry his at all he says it makes it frizzy and leads to balding (??) he just lets it air dry and drips all over. To give him credit he does clean up any drips but it still annoys me.
  4. I enjoy a drunk ciggy when we go on holiday (without the kids) and he vapes 🤢. Sorry I just hate vaping like put the grape lost Mary down you’re 28 years old bro.
  5. Fugly quarter zip. I’ve hated this thing since we met but it lives on. If we ever move house I’m going to “lose it”.
  6. Whenever I make lasagna (his favourite food) he asks 1) are you making the béchamel from scratch? and 2) are you gonna make it cheesy? Like mate I know how you like your lasagna I’ve been doing this for you for ten years!!

My partner stands behind me in the kitchen all the time every time I need to get to the sink he’s sure enough blocking it. Emptying the bin every time I need to grab something out the cupboard or needing a tea right when I’m boiling water for pasta. Reheating a curry the moment I’ve scrubbed the microwave. Anything to get in my way the 30 mins or so I need to use the kitchen per day. We have a big kitchen too, there’s just no reason to take up so much space. Similar with bathroom.

Some people have had a bit of a humour bypass this morning. Mine eats really loudly. He breathes really loudly. He snores and somehow clicks in his sleep also! So aside from eating breathing and sleeping loudly …

Dp and I genuinely live in a bubble of pink mutual appreciation and extremely rare annoyance (I annoy him occasionally but frankly I would try the patience of a saint). That’s because our children are adults, our parents are nearly all dead, we have plenty of money, we’ve only been together 6 years so still fancy each other, and I don’t have periods any more. It’s normal enough to have moments of hate when you’re in the trenches buried under nappies, bills, his mother, hormone tides and emails from primary school about Wrld Fcking B*k Dy.

DH and I have been married 36 years and in a similar situation - retired, no surviving parents, but no children (nature said no). Love DH to bits, respect him and still fancy him as he does me. Of course he has annoying habits as do I. But if your partner’s annoying habits get in the way of your feelings for them you shouldn’t be together imo.

Neemi1201 · 29/08/2026 10:56

I hated my DH for roughly a year after the birth of each of my two boys. Especially if he made any noise that could potentially waken either of them....he's a flat footed walker, so sounds like an elephant stomping round the house, I could honestly have murdered him just for walking, when the kids were little and asleep 😂Now the boys are older, I generally like him!

A friend at lunch randomly said of her husband ‘ I think Vincent is …. Really stupid’

I must admit I struggled to see the love. I guess marriage is a curates egg!

More fool her for staying with Vincent. There must be reasons she does.
