You're not being unreasonable. I read one blurb talking about a woman 'grooming and seducing' young boys. No, grooming and sexually abusing, same as if it had been men doing it to young girls.

Mrs Robinson is often mentioned. Without acknowledging Dustin Hoffman was a graduate, i.e., an adult. So not comparable in any sense.

Abuse is abuse regardless of the sex of the perpetrators. The terrible effects on victims lives with them their whole lives. It’s just awful.

It’s appalling. But there are always people who excuse/justify it. There are also always people who use it as a “women are just as bad as men” argument to minimise the overwhelming majority of abusers who are men.

There's a Tortoise Investigates podcast about Sally-Ann Bowen. It's called Lucky Boy because that's what the men who were abused as children were told over and again when they realised that the "relationship" was abusive. It's a horrible idea that young men and boys just want to shag and can't be exploited or groomed. The men who spoke yo are clearly very distressed by what happened to them

I do want to note, though, as someone who’s spent the past few years studying child sex abuse, that female teachers who sexually target teenage boys are usually what’s called situational abusers, as opposed to actual pedophiles, who have a preference for prepubescent (not adolescent) children. They target teenage boys because that’s who’s available to them, not because their ideal sexual partners are teenage boys.

There is no justification for any kind of abuse of children, there is no difference whether it was supposedly “situational” or not.

Well, if they target teenage boys who are under the age of consent, then they are "actual" paedophiles!

It’s important to realize that not all child sex abusers have a preference for sex with minors, because it’s important to understand the psychology of sex offenders. They can be people who have had successful sexual relationships with adults; they’re not always people who genuinely prefer to have sex with children.

Pedophilia is a psychiatric diagnosis. A pedophile is someone who is solely or mainly attracted to children who haven’t gone through puberty. A teacher who targets teenage students is a sex offender who’s committed a crime, but doesn’t fit the diagnostic criteria for pedophilia. She might not even prefer adolescent boys over adult men as sexual partners.

Situational child sex abusers are typically regressed (emotionally immature), morally indiscriminate (they’ll have sex with anyone without guilt) or inadequate (they don’t feel able to attract their preferred sexual partners). If you read about cases of female teachers abusing male teenage students, a lot of them seem to be regressed, conceptualizing their victims as “secret boyfriends” who are “unusually mature” or “old enough to know what they want.” It’s a different typology from sex offenders who, say, are repulsed by secondary sex characteristics because they’re only attracted to prepubescent children.

I know Boston Legal was a TV show, but the sleazy pig on it opened up that an older woman abused him when he was a boy. I wonder how often it's true that men with these attitudes, in real life, were abused, and it wasn't taken seriously? Domestic violence charities say abuse/violence against males is massively under-reported, and it's still treated a joke, too often, when a small woman is abusing a big male.
Any abuse is wrong, full stop. It needs to be taken seriously-it's wrong in itself, and might well lead to more women being abused in the future too.
