Cash, food water is in case of power cuts that last a few days (risk of Russian hackers attacking a power plant), not nuking. There is 0% chance of Putin nuking the UK, you'd have to be completely clueless to think this is a likely scenario

There is 0% chance of Russia bombing the UK. At the very most, if Putin gets desperate, he will bomb British military targets in Ukraine but not on British soil. This is not very likely either, Putin is trying to blackmail and threaten. Russia is getting weaker and Putin is not having a good time, Ukraine is not giving up and doing a lot of damage to Russian army. He would have to lose his mind completely to attack a country where he has zero chance of winning. He wants Ukraine but is too weak to take since Ukraine gets support from Europe, so now he's trying to threaten us into not helping Ukraine. Don't fall for that. Burnham is doing the right thing standing up to him.

Putin is getting nervous about the situation in Russia. There are long queues at petrol stations due to fuel shortages, power cuts, Ukrainian drone attacks. Not to mention people's young sons being sent off to the meat grinder in Ukraine without much military training. Russians are an interesting nation - they are willing to withstand those adverse conditions for the promise of a return of Great Russia. This is what the Ukraine war is about - Putin wanting to show his people that he's a great conquerer so that they let him stay in power. This has now backfired and he's increasingly more in trouble. He is in no position to start another war with a strong country.

Here is an article on what targets could potentially be hit but it's extremely unlikely as almost all of them are based in NATO countries. The head of CIA has recently travelled to Russia to tell them to not dare attack a NATO country.

I don't think its helpful on the one hand advising OP to get extra cash (?), food and water, presumably to prep in case Putin decides to nuke UK, and then to go for a nice day out with her children. I think the prepping advise is just going to feed into her anxiety ( apologies if you were being facicious)

In 2024 Putin warned of "catastrophic consequences" for the UK if the UK supplied long range missile components to Ukraine. The specific targets mentioned were UK military bases both in the UK and abroad. He then went on Russian State TV and explicitly stated that he was taking about potential nuclear attacks.

It was also around this time that Medvedev suggested that any attempt by Western powers, obviously including the UK, to return Russia to it's 1991 borders would result in all-out nuclear attacks upon all significant targets in Western Europe and the USA. Essentially a threat to bring about armageddon if the west continued to thwart Russian efforts at territorial expansion.

It has escalated across 2026 with Putin's cabinet expressly denoting the UK as a "legitimate wartime target", and the Russian Foreign ministry accusing the UK of "playing with fire" and warning of strikes against installations involved in the supply chain of goods going to Ukraine.

This might not be coming directly from Putin's own mouth, but it's undoubtedly reflective of his own views and likely orchestrated directly by him, so it's as good as the man saying these things himself.

So no, it hasn't been "going on for months", it's been going on for years. It's nothing new, and yet there is still no indication that Putin has any intention whatsoever of following through on any of it.

There are other ways to disable a country. Like a cyber attack on something important to us. Which they can then deny but it'll keep.is busy. Just prepare for shortages in things that are important to you.

As they say; 'hope for the best, prepare for the worst', we have no idea what tomorrow brings and cant second guess what's in someone elses head unfortunately..

Russia does indeed have a right to defend itself. But Russia has not been attacked. Russia is the attacker in this case. And Ukraine, with the help of her allies, is defending herself.

Highly unlikely that any of their ICBMs still work - they can’t even keep their single aircraft carrier working and are reduced to buying drones from Iran. The warheads have probably been nicked and replaced with scrap lead and the propellant will have gone damp and mouldy because all the funds for maintenance are resting in some general’s account.

None of those threats bother me whatsoever.

But what i do think about is IF it happened i very much doubt it, is where would they start bombing first, as I wouldn't be my area as nothing interesting ever happens here.

I think Trump is by far the biggest risk to world peace. There are no longer any checks and balances in place. He would take us all with him if he thinks he's going down.

I actually prefer the idea of all dying immediately together in a blazing inferno than slowly saying goodbye to loved ones one by one (as happens in ordinary life). But I appreciate this is probably a niche view.
