Why has Tim Curry’s death been low key reported?

Has it just been announced? I’m not glued to the TV, super busy today, but I didn’t see this on the evening news.

And lovely though he seemed to be, not a household name and not someone who would have been a billionaire if they hadn’t have given so much of their own wealth away.

I think someone else died when Bowie or someone like that did and it was overshadowed so probably because we lost Dolly at almost the same time.

I think what the OP says is correct - very little coverage on television news. Yes, depending on our interests, plenty on our social media feeds (lots on mine as I'm a big Rocky Horror fan), but I do think it has been overlooked nationally and probably internationally because of Dolly Parton.

We watched Clue with the children (teens) last night. I’ve seen the news a lot but it has been a bit over shadowed by Dolly. He had also be unwell for a while.

I'm sure Mother Theresa died around the same time as Princess Diana and as a result there was nowhere as much focus on that as you would expect.

Poor guy died the same day as Dolly Parton, it was inevitably going to be overshadowed. She’s a global icon and he’s a great actor but quite niche, not everyone is into Rocky Horror or would recognise him from his other roles. My DC knew him from Home Alone and remarked on the three home alone 2 deaths this year.

From clips I’ve seen of him, he had a good sense of humour and seemed grounded so I don’t think he’d be annoyed about this.

He's world famous but not at Dolly level. He's also a cult figure which means he's always been slightly below radar to the masses.

I also believe that if he hadn't have suffered ill health from his late 60s he could well have had a renaissance in some successful Netflix etc show.

His performance of Frank n Furter had a profound effect on me when I first watched RHPS. There's nothing like it - he practically leapt out of the film. I think a lot of people like me felt some kind of connection with him after watching the move.

Also, another poster mentioned Clue - love this underrated film so much! It's funny, quirky and very entertaining and he's great in it. Need to rewatch this.

I had no idea who he is or that he was in home alone.

But dolly died and I mean pretty much everyone knows who she is so it was overshadowed although I did see it in the paper.
