Legoland Ride Access Pass

After struggling to renew the nimbus access pass online due to some
kind of fault with the system, I finally got it sorted a few weeks ago. I’d booked our trip to Legoland a couple of weeks before that but wasn’t able to book a ride access pass until I got the card renewed.
I've been trying daily to get a ride access pass for our visit this week, at one point spending over an hour in the online queue to even get through to the available dates. There is nothing available.
I’ve contacted the accessibility team who just said to keep trying.
Why on earth did they change the system to this one? It’s so stressful.
We live a long way from
Legoland and travel there by taxi, train, tube and bus. My ASD/ADHD son loves it and I promised him I’d take him
before he starts secondary school but it looks like we might have to cancel the trip.
Does anyone have any tips on how to ensure I can get a pass? I’ve got the app with the queue times so I can utilise that as much as possible but it looks like any of the more popular rides will be a no-go because we can’t queue for 50 minutes.
I find the whole system really unfair on those with disabilities because it’s now stressful from the moment I book tickets.
There are some physical issues too which affect the ability to stand/queue for long periods.
I know a lot of people who don’t understand the issues are against the passes to start with so I’m not actually asking if I am being unreasonable, I’m posting here for traffic.
Any advice much appreciated!

Thank you to those who wished us a good visit. It was probably the best visit to the park we've had, having been 4 times before.
Now that we know our way round it's much easier to maximise the number of rides we can go on by doing things in a logical order.
They have again changed the way the access pass works. You can only book onto a ride when you are very close to it.
Then you have to check in by scanning the QR code at the entrance to the ride queue. The staff then check your RAP and ride booking. Once you've finished the ride you have to tap on the app to say you've finished and it locks you out for the current wait time. So we might have waited 5 minutes for a ride but it's 40 minutes before we can book onto another ride.
We went on Flight of the Sky Lion and it was spoilt by a group of children who screamed the whole way through and the one sat next to me kicked his legs rapidly throughout and managed to kick me too.
My son was completely overwhelmed by that and ended up in tears. We went on again towards the end of the day because Ds was hoping a second time wouldn't be spoilt. Despite having the RAP we waited about 30 minutes in a jam-packed cattle market style queue. Ds coped ok but I had reached my limit and it was really difficult for me. I'd have fled if not for ds really wanting to go on again.
He's much better able to cope than me,
especially since starting medication.
Mine wears off much earlier than his because of a fast metabolism plus l'd had 3 hours sleep max and got up at 3.30am.
I was running on fumes. It was worth the wait though and they seemed to use more mist in the second one so it was great fun.
Ds told me the screamers had said they were going to scream the whole way through "for fun”. They were about 8/9 years old so not little children who don't know any better. I wish he'd have told me because I'd have asked the staff if we could wait for the next ride. Lesson learnt.
We managed to dash to Pirate Falls before it closed as our final ride, having been on it earlier in the day. We went on 13 ditterent rides-two of them twice and that's the most we've ever done so a great day.
We are homeward bound now on a very noisy train after a day in Windsor and London and I'l need at least 2 days to recover from our trip. I love our trips but they are mentally and physically exhausting. Always worth it though.
The lady in the sensory area told us that it's Merlin who control the pass release so it anyone reading this has had issues and wants to feedback then it's Merlin you need rather than Legoland itself.
For all the demand for the passes most queues had very few people in the RAP section. Most people in the queue had paid for passes or were scanning the QR code to pay for the one ride pass. Ninjago, Pirate Falls, and Flight of the Sky Lion had around 10 people in front of us in the ride access queue. Everything else it was either just us, or one other family. It makes no sense that it’s so hard to get a pass and there’s claims of demand being high but hardly anyone is in those queues.

People without RAP are very unhappy with the situation, the parks know it, so are trying to make it more difficult. I think YABU. If anybody wants priority access for any reason, they should pay for it.

If you understood how the passes work then you wouldn’t be saying that.
Perhaps the people with RAP who are unhappy should pay the extra for the shorter physical queue seeing as they have the luxury of not having a disability that means they need one to access the rides.

People without RAP should be unhappy with the people who buy fast passes (and the parks for selling them), they have no access needs they just want to queue for less time and have more money to spare to buy their way out of queueing.

People with RAP need RAP to be able to go at all. I hope you never need any accommodations in life for something which isn't your fault and you can't do anything about. You're angry with the disabled when if anything you should be angry with the rich.

Ive got a friend who works there who said the demand for those passes is huge. So many people are eligible.

Indeed... in 1990 about 3% of children were disabled now over 12% of children in the uk claim to have a disability.

Glad OP got a pass and hope her son enjoys it

Just count yourself lucky that nobody in your party actually needs one. These are passes so disabled guests can actually access the rides. It is incredible to me that there are people who begrudge this.

I managed to get one around 4pm this afternoon. Bloody ridiculous and so stressful. Ds was saying to cancel the trip because not having a pass makes a lot of rides unavailable to us but was so happy again once he knew I’d secured a pass.
It shouldn’t be like this. I could have bought a pass but not had access due to disability. It’s not right.

Great news you got one today - hope you and ds have the best day tomorrow

DragonsFurry · 26/08/2026 22:04

I don't know much about the ride access passes.

My DD has ADHD however she is actually ok with queuing...there is so much sensory stuff going on, it actually calms her down and I she gets distracted before she gets bored.

We live close to a theme park so get around it by going at around 3pm when the queues are a bit shorter.

However, I imagine there are people in a similar position claiming ride access passes unnecessarily.

It is good that they are making it harder and they do need to closely assess who needs it and who doesn't but I also hope in the long run, it'll get easier for those who actually need it.

Are they? Before I needed a RAP I didn't even know they existed, and if I didn't know they existed, I couldn't be unhappy about it. I think I just assumed they were all fast track.

When used appropriately, they aren't priority access, someone with one wouldn't get on any more rides than someone without, they are just waiting on a bench rather than in queue line. There is abuse of them, which is very wrong, and that should be cracked down on.

We had the old style pass which is still valid - however the system won't accept it because they have changed to a different type of pass.

Despite going through the hoops to get the previous pass and it still being valid we can't actually use it.

I managed to get a new style pass and booked a date in September last week.

Nothing is ever easy.

calbum · 26/08/2026 11:51

It’s so annoying and overly complicated too. I have an access card with a companion symbol, managed to eventually work out how to add a carer ticket then found out I need another app downloaded just for the access pass thing, can’t even get through past the queue so n the app never mind at actual Legoland. Why do they have to make everything so difficult?

LaundryElfBusiness · 26/08/2026 11:37

Unfortunately @Pinklightningthis is one of those things that require parents of disabled children to be way more organised, and do way more admin, than their non-disabled peers. We like to visit a couple of theme parks in August so back in May I checked whether DDs RAP was still valid, it wasn’t so I renewed it and dealt with the admin snafus; then I still couldn’t get any August dates (in early June at this point!) so I waited til there was a published release date, I logged on at 9am I think but didn’t get to the top of the queue til 2pm - but then I got my preferred dates for both LEGOLAND and Chessington. Then and only then did I actually book entry tickets.

It’s tomorrow we go and I have been checking regularly and was on at 10am
yesterday. Nothing came up. I check regularly throughout the day too. Nothing. Even September and October only have week days. It’s crazy.

More will release for October at the next release, so you might get some then. I didn't manage to get on until 5pm on the last release date, and got 1 October weekend date for legoland and 1 weekend date for chessington

They haven’t released any more this time.

The 48 before release is about 10am. So if you are trying fir Friday, its 10am today
I suggest joining the queue about 9.15-9.30 so hopefully you are in when released. It's hard trying to time it right, as once you are in it chucks you out after about 10 mins, so then you have to join the online queue all over again, and by time get through, the 10am release will definitely be all gone

I agree it's a rubbish system. We never had any issues with long queues with the old system, queues are much longer since.

There are specific release dates on the app (which won't help you for this summer) so you could try to get some for October half term, or a weekend in October. But these are also a struggle if you work- it can take an hour to get to front of online queue

They do release a few more access passes 48 hours before the day so do keep trying

itsgettingweird · 26/08/2026 07:51

I find the Merlin places are a nightmare now for RAP and the system doesn’t even create a short waiting time in a queue with the rest being before you can queue again.

I went to Paultons park a few weeks ago and it was marvellous. Such a refreshing experience.

Unfortunately you do have to book the RAP before booking the tickets because so many book them and yet there’s a limited amount.

Short of keep trying this time there isn’t much more you can do unfortunately.

I really hope it works out for you 🤞

Pinklightning · 26/08/2026 07:49

When we’ve been before the access queues have been virtually empty so I’m not sure how demand is so high yet there’s hardly anyone in the access queue. Unless it’s more for the rides aimed at younger visitors.
