Should I get a second job in order to afford Mounjaro?

Currently work 9am to 6.30pm during the week and weigh over 25 stone. I'm not eligible for weight loss medication on the NHS, but cannot afford Mounjaro or Wegovy privately. What second jobs could I apply for in order to pay for Mounjaro? Currently work in an office environment and lead a completely sedentary lifestyle. My weight is so high that I struggle to walk and have left hip/pelvic pain that gets worse when walking.

Medullary thyroid cancer in the family is contraindicated and you won't get approved for Mounjaro or Wegovy. Different types of thyroid cancer are considered carefully by the prescribing team. Otherwise you'd be looking at things like Orlistat which is a pill.

Agree, it might be the family history or the other medication that you’re on. I would contact them to ask for the specifics. There may well be other pharmacies that will take a more individual approach and consider you.

Just did the eligibility questionnaire for Juniper and it said I'm not eligible. One of my parents has had thyroid cancer- could that be why?

Agree to seriously look at finances as opposed to a second job, you will be exhausted which isn’t going to help weight loss anyway. As someone who works late night and weekends life sucks if I’m honest, I’ve lost the ability to meet up with friends, go to events that are on etc etc etc

OP you may have PCOS (irregular periods, testosterone) and this might help with getting nhs Wegovy?

If you really do need to pay, yes take a small job, even if it’s more admin.

quite. I do my job just as well with one leg as i did with two. Mostly because I don’t type with my feet, and because my brain wasn’t stored in my leg so I still remember how to deliver speech therapy. 😆🤷‍♂️

this might surprise you, but many of us manage to do jobs without being able to walk at all. 😮I mean granted i’m not going to be a dog walker or an olympian any time soon, but there are many jobs you can do just as easily sitting down.

I do have to laugh at ‘try diet and exercise’ though as if the OP hadn’t thought of that. I tried that method for decades on MJ i’ve lost half my body weight.

I peaked at 7.5mg (mg?) and then started to reduce my dose from the same 7.5 pens for a couple of months, then went to every ten days for a couple of months. I then just took it occasionally and then stopped. I guess it took about 4 months.

I've got a pen in reserve in case I feel I need a micro dose again. I never had a whiff of any side effects, so I guess I'm pretty blasé about strict rules.
