To ask what you’d think of a colleague drinking 0% beverages at work?

Inspired by a LinkedIn post I’ve seen, not a situation I’m in! It’s really made me think because I suppose technically there is a marginal % of alcohol in them and they’re designed to mimic alcoholic drinks.

But in my mind it’s fine because it’s not alcohol! So I thought I’d ask

YABU - they’re not appropriate for the workplace.

YANBU - they’re basically just fizzy juice.

It’s a strange thing to do simply because they’re marketed as an alternative to an alcoholic drink. You can say ‘but why is it different to a coke or….’ as much as you like, it doesn’t make it any less strange. I would no more pop a bottle of non alcoholic champagne at my desk and pour myself a flute than I would a bottle of bolly.

I’d do a double take if I saw someone with a can of non alcoholic beer or a bottle of non alcoholic wine on their desk and drinking it, I’d find it a very odd thing to do. Very few people drink them as a choice as a soft drink, normally they are drunk to replace alcohol but give the taste 0f it. On saying that I’ve never ever seen anyone do it.

made me laugh, someone suggested a marketing campaign to make it the norm, they could have kid in trouble. See the head , sitting there with her bottle of alcohol free pino and knocking it back, or thr guidance teacher clutching their bottle of alcohol free corona as they made their way into assembly at 8.30. Andy burnham charing a cobra committee with a six pack on the table beside himm as raynor sipped her alcohol free prosecco . 😂

Bit weird but wouldn’t bother me. Orange juice is also up to 0.5% alcohol as are bananas and bitter shandy pop which is given to children.
