To think it’s only the older generations that have strong feelings about Harry and Meghan?

Does anyone younger actually care at all? I just don’t understand the strength of feeling at all. I don’t know them, who knows what is true and what isn’t. It’s just family drama that so many families unfortunately have. I just don’t quite understand how some people are so passionately angry about it all? It’s just celebrity gossip essentially, who cares.

No, but I DO think that it's only fucking idiots who keep posting this crap in AIBU rather than the Royal Family board

EnterQueene · 24/08/2026 13:55

I think most people of any age don't give much of a toot. The RF Board is the safe space for hate filled obsessives to drivel on about this, which means the sane majority don't need to see the bile.

Not a royalist as such but you have to wonder at people who go abroad for privacy a couple of years after letting the taxpayer pay out a fortune for their wedding. Then, knowing their elderly grandparents are frail, decide to announce the then Prince Charles and Duchess of Cambridge as she was were racists.
Lovely. Now they want to come back. I am glad Harry is coming back. She can stay where she is.

Except the grandparents were his, who he'd known all his life, as were his father and his SIL. Not hers. He wrote his book and took the court cases, yet it's all her fault?
Maybe the RF need to ask themselves if the hereditary principle really works if they consistently produce such stupid weak minded men who can't make decisions for themselves and are constantly led astray by others? Surely it's a risk too large for us to take to have a family that regularly produces gullible dimwits despite having every single resource, the very best education, no money worries, people falling over themselves to give them advice etc and then has a right to foist these fools on all of us as Heads of state or make us pay for them to ribbon cut and ask inane questions for the rest of their lives?

I’m 70 and I totally resent the idea that only “older” people have a problem with anything. This is a clear sexist post.

I think you've muddled up your "ists" there @Illicililly .... but you're excused, in view of the fact you're "elderly" - nearly as elderly as me! 😉

thistimelastweek · 24/08/2026 13:49

I'd like to see the whole lot of them released back in to the wild

midsummabreak · 24/08/2026 13:48

Im over 60 and not interested either way.
Most people wish them well, whatever they choose to do. Some of the comments on here have been astonishingly nasty
it is not representative of the majority

Not a royalist 😂

Tiddlywinks63 · 24/08/2026 13:46

I’m definitely old, over 70, and quite frankly bemused and unimpressed by their behaviour.
I guess it’s what happens when an overindulged, not particularly intelligent man suddenly realises that the Royal family doesn’t revolve around him and his wife. I think Meghan was and is unaware of how unpleasant he is; her sole aim is to swan around with everyone kowtowing to her while she wears priceless gems and soaks up the accolades.
Their behaviour is crass, vulgar and disrespectful much of the time, hogging the limelight and making everything about them.
It’s like watching a slow motion car crash.

Age-ism much?

Quite. And nasty with it.

Wonderknicks · 24/08/2026 13:45

I'm "older" & couldn't care less. I'm mildly amused by it all & wonder what will happen next, but that's it. My kids (20 somethings) couldn't care less & would barely know who they were.

Backedoffhackedoff · 24/08/2026 13:45

You can absolutely guess a woman who hates Megan miles away (and it is 99% women) they’re always the same type

GreenSedan · 24/08/2026 13:44

LifeIsTooShort247 · 24/08/2026 13:43

When I made a comment or two on the Royal Family and a few users made it quite clear they had been posting there for several years and were 'older' as in 55+. So, you really aren't being unreasonable to think that.

You only have to look at the recent YouGov polls to see it, too. Out of the total 2,063 British adults who filled out the tracking survey, 57.4% of the participants were 50 or older.

I do wonder about those who spend so much time talking about it online. If you aren't doing it in real life, are you even being your true, authentic self? I wonder how it would go if they actually talked to their friends and family about the royals as much as they do online before someone told them to give it a rest - I cerntainly would if my partner kept going on about it everyday lol

MsVivvie · 24/08/2026 13:43

I’m in my 50’s and do think they’re a pair of fannies ,but I’m not raging or angry. Maybe bemused at why they keep popping up . But yeah, good luck to them, hopefully things will go well for them. That’s all can muster really, in terms of my interest.

Messedupmyusernameagain · 24/08/2026 13:43

I think the divide is between people who care or are interested in the RF and those who aren't. And the people who care about the RF skew massively older so are more likely to care about the perceived ' danger' or insult towards them.

thisoldcity · 24/08/2026 13:40

I’m older and although I couldn’t care less what they do, I’m a little shocked by the amount of people my age who are ‘disgusted’ by them or think they are ‘terrible’. It seems to be the traditional royalists who feel the strongest somehow because Harry has abandoned the family or something? I can’t really follow the logic.

Monty36 · 24/08/2026 13:39

A bit like saying only older people have any grasp of right from wrong.

JustPassingThyme · 24/08/2026 13:38

I'm gen z and I find Harry and Meghan equally entertaining and distasteful.

Magsbd · 24/08/2026 13:36

I’m older and don’t have strong feelings against them. I feel sorry for them receiving all the hate from the press.

Tatenk · 24/08/2026 13:28

I think 60+ men often get very angry at the idea of a woman who is attractive but not complaisant.

beyondyuck · 24/08/2026 13:28

older generation - do not care, other than family business stays in the family regardless of who you are.
We do not air our dirty laundry in public or our family life - very low social media profile even in the under 25s in our family.

TheDogsMother · 24/08/2026 13:25

I’m older and couldn’t really care less about them. I guess my only concern is the tax payer paying for security when they aren’t working royals.

Shedmistress · 24/08/2026 13:24

I'm 58 and there has never once been a conversation about these 2 in my life, social circle or anywhere really.
