AIBU to ask the local running club to move its Sunday stop?

yeah, tempting as it may be, not sure the neighbours will like that.

I had a cycle club that did this outside my house. Bloody inconsiderate. And yes, lots of shouting. I had a corner house.

So self absorbed in what they are doing. Forget that anyone else exists. Or don’t care. Just a little bit in love with themselves too.

Lean out of the window and say ; look, it is 8am on a Sunday morning and can they please just go away. Their noise is disturbing others. If they want to shout can they go somewhere not surrounded by homes and do it.

I have done that and it worked. Never bothered again.

If they refuse your polite and very reasonable request to make their stop somewhere else…….. buy a fog horn, or a really loud alarm or whistle. Every time they stand outside your house making noise, then make an even louder noise out the window to disturb them. They will soon get the point.

We are usually up and 6:30 but you are not being unreasonable at all.

If they refusee to move then make sure you are a pain in the arse every sunday at 8am until they do move.

No harm in asking to keep the noise down before 9.30 on a Sunday morning in a residential street , while suggesting a more suitable meeting point for the post run socialising.

. but there's not much you can do if they ignore you. So keep you tone good natured

Give over. Maybe not for you but op has said Sunday is the only day she doesnt work. Another case of inconsiderate runners/cyclists etc showing inconsidersation towards others. Seems to be a common theme within the healthy lifestyle brigade....

It is on a Sunday for a large percentage of people who want one day to lie in.

It's not a her problem it's a them problem. I wouldn't want a group making noise outside my house at 8am every Sunday.
How do you know the road is publicly owned? The only info the OP has given is that she doesn't own it.

Yanbu, if it's disturbing you on your only lie-in day. I think 8am on a Sunday is too early, and you can politely suggest an alternative.
I get regularly woken by local cyclists early on Sat/Sun mornings, as I live in a village and my road is on their loop. They shout conversations & instructions at each other - so you hear loud snatches of conversation or "Pothole!" as they sweep past. Nothing to be done about that, sadly, but at least it's not every weekend.

They're getting a 'virtue pass' because it's exercising. Any group of people arranging to meet and shout in front of somebody's house at 8am every Sunday is selfish and antisocial - nobody would be happy if it was a bunch of youths noisily hanging out there.

Yeah that’s dead rude. This is where being on a street of people who aren’t afraid of conflict comes in as my neighbours would have been out kicking off about this the first time the group had tried it 🤣 I agree with others that this wouldn’t be acceptable at ANY time.

I feel your pain. I live opposite a small row of shops and the local cycling club have started to use the car park as their meet up place. Every Sunday morning they start arriving from around 6.30am and then proceed to bellow the day’s ride route to each individual person as they turn up. There are flats above the shops and the residents have asked them to keep the noise down but it still happens.

I am sorely tempted to make a note of their route, follow them to the cafe where they’ve planned to stop and accidentally drive over all their bloody bikes.

People underestimate how horrible this is if they haven't gone through it.

My former flat in London was on a path of two primary schools and one private nursery. We would have parents after drop off who would congregate outside my flat and chat for such a long time. A lot of them used to even let their younger kids (who were with them) run around my private front garden to let off steam so they could chat in peace!

I worked in the office back then) 7 or 8 years ago) but could never enjoy days off, or the odd day I worked from home.

The annoying thing is the place was full of parks and coffee shops yet so many chose my house to gather around for some reason. And the talking.. It was so LOUD. Just, yapping for an hour or so.

They are not being unreasonable to exercise there. You are not being unreasonable to ask them to go elsewhere.

Your road is a publicly owned. The car park might not be and thete are obvious safety concerns (snd hence iliability /nsurance issues) around a group of pedestrians congregating there. The large field is slso presumably owned by a farmer and thesebplaces might not be on their route.

Obviously just ask but I don't think they've been inconsiderate so far and i definitely would not suggest that in your message.

I'd go with "hi, we haven't met in person but I'm aware of your running club (and think it's a great addition to the place). I'm sorry to be a pain but your stop is right outside my house and the group noise is disturbing my only lie-in of the week. Would it be possible to move to the carpark 50m away? Thanks"
