Stopping the boats is easy...

titbumwillypoo · 22/08/2026 15:47

All we have to do is abandon the ECHR, the Refugee Convention, the UN, the G7, NATO and the WTO. Then we can break maritime law and start sinking the boats. Obviously we'd have to proscribe the RNLI and change the job description of the coast guard to encourage people who want to sink boats to sign up. The fishermen will be fine.
Once we start with this deterrent we can start kicking out other undesirables. I'd start with the students. Coming over here using our universities as a gateway to benefits street. So we ban them, no more student visas. We might see a few universities close but no great loss, you learn more in the school of life.
After that take away access to ALL benefits for anyone not born here. Don't care if you've always worked and paid your taxes you're not ENGERLISH so less Dr Khalid more Dr Callum.
Obviously once we start making Britain Great again there may be a couple of teensy issues. Food might cost a lot more because the lefty EU might not want to trade with a nation that wants to isolate itself and kill innocent people. It'll be fine because there will be 100% employment because instead of benefits you'll have to do your 60 hours on the food farm to earn your pound credits.
Family will be legally obliged to look after any living relative as there won't be anyone left to do it because we deported them all. And obviously the NHS was full of loony lefties who went round caring for people instead of focusing on what really mattered, which is profit.
They're just a couple of the benefits of stopping the boats, because who cares about the bigger picture or unintended consequences eh?
Giving up our place on the world stage is a small price to pay for stopping a handful of people coming from countries we benefited from or bombed isn't it?

I am not sure how anyone could open the boarders? Do you mean that people who live in boarding houses should open their eyes or mouths very wide?

Please at least spell it properly: we are discussing national borders.

Poor form.

Ok we are up to page 24 and hundreds of replies. So far no one has answered the basic question: why would anyone be prepared to pay thousands of pounds and risk their lives to come to the UK when they are already in a stable, safe, affluent country?

The two explanations so far are:
They might have family here.

And
They might speak English....so we should open the boarders to the 1.5 billion people who speak English as a first or second language.

Well fuck me I'm sold on it... open the boarders

Err Islamic groups...the biggest number of immigrants are from Pakistan. The only group you have listed there have carried out a terrorist act on UK soil in the last 25 years? Go on...I'll give you a clue...it begins with a I and they behead journalists

Officially 2 have been killed and 13 injured by right wing terrorists in the UK this century.

I discussed the indirect connections of the Russians and Chinese to Islamic terrorism on British soil, as well as the direct risks they pose, above. Why not watch the Dan Jarvis video?

climbintheback · 27/08/2026 16:45

In UK should I add

climbintheback · 27/08/2026 16:44

How many people killed and maimed by Islamists and how many by those nasty right wingers?

NotAnotherScarf · 27/08/2026 16:41

poetryandwine · 27/08/2026 11:49

JTAC and MI 5 disagree with you.

The threat level was upgraded to Severe in May of this year. This means that an attempted terrorist attack within six months is likely. Home grown right wingers, the Chinese, the Russians and their proxy states as well as Islamist groups were listed as the likely perpetrators.

All of this information and more is contained in a public statement made by The Rt Hon Dan Jarvis, MP to Parliament in May explaining the upgrade. It is readily available online.

@BasildonBonds That doesn't change the fact that there is a lot of hate and disinformation spread online.

Such as ?

When it has got so bad that our government has to put out a 7 page leaflet, in multiple languages, telling migrants not to rape women & girls then it really shines a light on the elephant in the room.

Don’t try mentioning victims? Why not?

Why not design the system around stopping the same happening again

This with big brass bells on ^

These are just a few recent cases, are you saying they didn't happen? That it is "spreading misinformation" Really ?
I think you need to give your head a wobble.

Falkirk: A Syrian asylum seeker named Muhammad Sheikhi was sentenced to four years in prison in August 2026 for sexually assaulting two women.
Horley: An asylum seeker from Syria, Qais Al-Aswad, received a suspended prison sentence in late 2025 after being convicted of three counts of sexual assault.
Leamington Spa: Two teenage asylum seekers from Afghanistan were convicted of the rape of a 15-year-old girl and sentenced in late 2025.
Essex: An Ethiopian asylum seeker was jailed for 12 months in September 2025 for sexual assaults against a woman and a teenager in Epping.

Where have I said reporting and recording of crimes by asylum seekers is disinformation? Please point to where I said that. I have also never once said that there are not criminal asylum seekers who commit terrible crimes.

That doesn't change the fact that there is a lot of hate and disinformation spread online.

Don't try that one with me.

I am talking about the people who spread false information and hate and blame asylum seekers for everything that is wrong in the UK.

The people who have suffered harm at the hands of criminal asylum seekers have all my sympathy. But it doesn't mean I have to mention them every time I post something relating to asylum seekers. Using such awful crimes to try to shut discussion down is quite grotesque.

So who are you talking about and where is your evidence of this?

And it seems from your post you don't care about the victims - nice 🙄

Islamic terrorism is thee biggest threat to Britain. It's not a case of all well as.

It is interconnected. Islamic terrorism is the biggest direct threat. A lot of it is funded directly or indirectly by Iran. Russia and China support Iran (to some extent this is mutually beneficial), the only two major powers to do so. Without them Iran would be in ruins.

This is in addition to the lesser but still very significant direct threats China and Russia pose to the UK.

EasternStandard · 27/08/2026 16:19

Spreading disinformation and hate and blaming asylum seekers for the UK's will certainly encourage the gullible idiots.

Well, unfortunately it will only get worse if this (stupid) government can't get a grip of the situation.
Putting our own people at the back of the queue for housing/dental treatment etc will only exacerbate the situation.

EasternStandard · 27/08/2026 16:15

The main issue is lack of checks and risk. The system doesn’t do that. Even with asylum granted there’s events such as Belfast. And then the glass attack I don’t think he was in the asylum system, he was just here.

So women and girls become a proxy vetting system. Getting rid of a man after the crime is too late. The crime isn’t reversed.

So governments will have to do better and find a way to use borders in a better way.

themoonandhalfacrown · 27/08/2026 16:13

BasildonBonds · 27/08/2026 16:10

We already have vigilantes shouting at hotels and setting houses on fire. Many of them have committed VAWG themselves.

poetryandwine · 27/08/2026 16:10

I’ve said on similar threads that I am fine with deporting immigrants from any pathway soundly convicted of serious crimes. I don’t even care about refoulement in that case.

Unfortunately the wrinkle is that some of them have no other country willing or obliged to receive them.

Consistent with centuries of British law, refugees deserve the presumption of innocence unless such a conviction occurs. Some of those Afghans fought for Britain.

I thought the main problem was economic poseurs? Also the backlog in processing applications, which keeps young men clustered in awful circumstances for absurd lengths of time. There we agree.

BasildonBonds · 27/08/2026 16:10

themoonandhalfacrown · 27/08/2026 14:49

If governments stay paralysed with indecision eventually people will have had enough and will form vigilante groups. This is what the Greek fishermen did, and sailed out with poles with nails on the end.
Ever wondered why so few boats try and land in that area now?

Idk you’ll still get posters saying nothing can be done. It suits their politics I assume.

We’re tied up with various laws rn but it’s not actually fixed. Things change.

GunnelVallquist · 27/08/2026 13:28

But what is the solution then?

Because surely it can’t be shrugging our shoulders and say ‘Well there’s nothing we can do about it’?

This is the big question for the whole of Western Europe. No one is shrugging their shoulders, quite the opposite. It is extremely depressing. Only demagogues are exploiting it.
