Obviously some people are coming from failed states, so access to eg criminal record databases is limited, or non existent. But again, we come back to ‘do you want to see a ban on people from certain countries’.

You’ve no way of knowing if a ‘deep evaluation’ or whatever you called it would have prevented that man from committing that act. So you’re left with ‘never let anyone in’ or some measure of accepting that people come with both risk and reward.

I think everyone would welcome a huge campaign that made changes to the behaviour of all men who have the tendency to rape or enjoy sexual harassment, including in schools, explaining why they shouldn’t and the reality of the damage that they do to the victims, heart wrenching accounts, no sugar coating. If it stopped one or two it would be a win.

He wouldn’t be on the street. There is 1000’s like him, if there was a European data base for failed asylum seekers they wouldn’t be about to live around Europe. Failed asylum in a European country should not be able to access another European country. if he was in a processing centre that lady would not be slashed 39 times.

What story? The story about the man living in the hotel 3 years? Hardly news. There are 1000’s of people living in many hotels since 2022 in Ireland under the international protection scheme.

That's funny, because i experienced multiple incidents of groping, inappropriate comments, and attempts to have unwanted sex in bars by strangers between the ages of 16-20. Some of these incidents got quite close to unwanted sex. I must just have gone to a very unusual university.

Its very very rare for child abuse and rape to be committed by a random stranger he probably thought you where being racist and didn't want to get into it

Fair comment but too often “white men rape women too” is used to shut down legitimate concern and comment on this issue.

There's plenty of White British men raping women so perhaps this leaflet could be posted to all UK men to remind them not to rape because lord knows they need it.

I feel so cross about it. I have no problem with safe legal migration- but that isn’t what’s happening. I feel our government are not protecting us women who live here and it’s scaring me. And for a man to not get it. When I grew up we could go to night clubs, walk round parks on our own etc now I wouldn’t dare where we live. We’ve had so many incidents reported here. You’re assuming both that all those costs wouldn’t follow anyway, and that they would. Most people want to work.

I have addressed this in my PPs .The Taliban regime turns a blind eye to rape. Most of the Afghan population hate the Taliban. I would like to bet that ordinary Afghans hate rape just as much as you and me and any other half decent people.

It’ll cost less than two or three years accommodation in a hotel, before moving to a HMO with a life long benefits system if they decide they can’t be bothered working, maternity costs when they bring the wife over, school costs, it costs a lot more using the current system.

One man was interviewed in Ireland. He lives in Co. Clare in a fabulous hotel going on 3 years, the hotel rooms cost between 200 up to 500 per night. It was popular with American tourists. The towns have lost their hotels and the tourism industry.

I would think that all men everywhere know that rape is not ok. That is just basic. I have not said that I think some men might not realise this about rape.

Personallky, I’m not convinced this leaflet is a good idea. I think it was a political move by the government to make it look like they are addressing people’s concerns about rape and women’s safety. I think it has backfired on them. I’m not sure why they thought it would go down well with the public. I’m only guessing.

How many men in Afghanistan would not know that rape isn’t ok?

Because some of your posts agree there’s an information gap which needs to be rectified and in others you say they do know already.
