The weather has changed for my holiday

Due to holiday in the south of France next week, and all along the long range forecast has been beautiful.

Now it’s changed. Rain every fucking day apart from the day I leave. I have to unpack all the beautiful dresses and clothes I’ve packed and change them out for rain jackets and boots. I’m fuming, I actually can’t believe it. It’s just my luck!

AIBU to just not want to go? I was due to do so many lovely day trips and now they’ll just be awful - damp and grey, any pictures I take will look awful. I just can’t believe it

Whilst your attitude is petulant, and irritating, I get the disappointment when you have an image of how you want things to be and then it isn't whats expected

We holiday in the UK most years and I have had disappointment when the weather has been lovely and dry the weeks around our trip and then its wet and dull when we are away

I have had many trips (including Hadrian's wall and Stonehenge ) that would have just been more enjoyable without rain.

There is no getting away from the fact its a lot more pleasant and easier to eat picnics/takeaway food when its dry and you aren't trying to find a dry bench or patch of grass to sit on.

But, I also get you can't control the weather so you either make the best of it and crack on, or don't go

I understand. A few years ago I went to Corfu and it rained every day, all day and night. People say "you're still on holiday" but that's ridiculous. People say "others can't afford a holiday". Also ridiculous.

Some people don't particularly enjoy being out in the pissing rain being battered by wind, not being able to see the view from the sea view villa they've paid a fortune for.

I don't understand the part about social media though. The only fun part of my holiday was posting pictures of the pissing rain.

Yabu we've had about 5 months of pure sunshine it was going to rain eventually. It's likely to change anyway not everyday will rain and unless your going in a tent you will be fine.

I don't think you need to worry so much about how your photos look, because I wouldn't bet on that travel TikTok being very successful anyway if you can't think of nice things to do on holiday in bad weather.

Where abouts in France are you going? We have just returned from 2.5 weeks on the West Coast, we just wouldn't even consider going to Northern France, anywhere around/south of bordeaux and you get lovely weather. Also the weather changes a lot, we used accuweather when we were away and it was only accurate in the hours before, some days it would predict rain days ahead and we didn't get any at all, it only actually rained in the night when there was a thunder storm, bar 1 day where there was a 1 hour storm in the morning, by 11am it was back to 30 odd and sunny. I wouldn't be cancelling a holiday from a weather forecast anyway.

Your fixation on your photos and social media is odd though, do you only holiday to create content?? It's a bit sad that you can't enjoy a place without your orchestrated insta photos. You can always ai a blue sky in besides 🤣

I just looked up Nice and St Tropez, both South of France. Sunny every day. You'll probably be ok and I doubt very much it will rain every day.

Like others have said, I'd rather be in France than at home, working. Pull up your big girl pants and stop moaning - you'll have a good time if you allow it.
