To ask why SHEIN clothes have increased in price?

We all make compromises. I have very few clothes. A lot of them from vinted.
1 in 4 pieces of cotton in the UK will have been involved in slave labour camps, the materials in your phone will have been mined by slaves, most clothing companies aren't paying fair wages to their workers even Beyonces clothing brand was involved with slave labour. If you eat imported foods then it's likely somewhere along the line slave labour/unfair pay or dangerous working conditions were involved somewhere.
Nobody is perfect in what we do, I recycle as much as I can, eat seasonally and local, don't drive or fly so I'm doing my best to make sure there is a world for as long as possible. Not everyone can or will do that, they compromise their morals where they want.

How do you square off being a parent whist knowingly supporting a company that use enforced child labour?

All the supermarkets have clothing sales on at the moment, there are bargains out there. DD bought herself a swimsuit in Matalan for £6. And as Matlan is a uk company, she knows it’s not been made by slave labour or with chemicals. Yes some of the big brands have been caught in the past using suppliers paying sweatshop wages or similar, but they sign up to schemes to try to make sure this doesn’t happen. Shein doesn’t care.

Everything they sell is made from and transported using oil. Which is both running out and currently subject to massive supply problems thanks to the USA.
Try shopping more locally.

I would stop letting other People making you feel guilty. You are sourcing items for a specific purpose. The problem is when people who could afford to buy more ethical clothing still buy from Shein because they can get A lot more items they don’t actually need. I wouldn’t buy from Shein myself, but I hate the holier than you pile-ons you get on these threads.

Consumers are to blame..they are the ones who have driven the price of clothing down. its not happened over night its happened over the past 2 years people want new new all time. they waited for sales or discounts etc retailers saw this and started putting pressure on manufactures moved them over seas as it was cheaper started substituting for cheaper materials all to drive price down to feed consumer demand. that's why sizing is so shite its not one manufacture doing smae clothing all tendered out to who can do it cheapest
there are other options out there you just need to look for them do your research on manufacturing materials etc. I suggest andrea chong a good start she on insta and tik tok. then apply what learned when shopping both on store and second hand. shops are not going not going to change untill consumers do. there are government laws coming into play which is helping but untill consumers stop it won't happen

I’ve so far resisted….and apologies for going off topic……it annoys me that I keep seeing Shein ads for clothes that I love the look of then I go to M&S, Next (I’m short and overweight so can’t do Zara etc and with a limited budget) and the clothes are either awful or not in my size.

From where though? So many mid-range brands are selling £60 jumpers that are 100% polyester. Places that i used to think of as "high end" (i.e. too expensive for me) are selling rubbish that is no better than Shein now.

Whenever I have shelled out for expensive clothing I have regretted it, as nothing seems to last any more. I buy everything on vinted now, but they also have their problems.

Consumers are not to blame for the fact that all retailers are selling is shit, in a variety of colours.

People need to stop shopping, me included. The tables have turned and we are now much more aware of the damage we are doing to the planet. Clothes should be expensive. They should be bought with consideration and with the mindset that they will last.

It;s a very, very low bar. But people are prepared to turn a blind eye to all sorts of things because they want cheap shit. And lots of it.
